What?? The temperatures the side seals have to deal with far outweigh the hottest IAT's.

with the boost you are running, it may be more difficult to drop below ambient. I can't wait to up the boost on my set up and see how it responds.
Given the fact that there's no intercooler and I'm running decently big boost on a big turbo, I don't expect it to drop below ambient with the exception of what I've already seen at lower boost (~14psi).

I think ya oughta try upping the boost on yours once you have some spark advance stuff setup you'd like to use, assuming you don't already. This is something I played with per some suggestions posted up on the ausrotary.com website and from RXHEAVEN_WA.

glad you got that taken care of. I wouldn't put the jets so close to the TB anyway, false AIT readings, no atomization... Once you are happy with your results, try aiming the jets toward the incoming air stream. Should make you even happier
Given the amount of alcohol I use along with the IAT's I'm seeing on this setup, I'd really be surprised if I had any more vapourization of it. In this case, while I don't mean to disagree with you or invalidate the suggestion, I think the key here is nozzle location and staggering as opposed to having the two nozzles (per my setup) facing each other, at the tail end of the pipe run, with a giant *blast* of alcohol.

Thanks. I will get a nice 1-4th run today so we can compare one nozzle to two.
Seriously tho, you are spraying two HUGE M10s post turbo... that's alot of alcohol. At this point I am begging you to just TRY a small M2 pre-turbo. You will see the same (if not better) results with less alcohol.

I will say, I am enjoying the step-by-step comparison. I'm just impatient.
I'll give the small, pre-turbo nozzle a try at some point. I'm just not ready yet as I'm luckily having pretty good success with what I've got currently. My next step is to swap Lead plugs to a unit much more suited for the boost I'm running.

Brian, great thread.

My EGT’s continue to climb all the way to 8000 rpm.

My dips in EGT are poor ignition cycles, I think?

Notice that I am very high at 1800ºF /980ºC.

I'm scared!

Charge saturation,, cant happen with direct chamber injection.
step up,move ahead!!

would you mind posting some pics, or reference of how you set your 13b up for DI?
I think it's an obvious step ahead, but how much work is it on a 13bt?

facing nozzle toward incoming air makes more of a difference?

yes, considerably. The key to AI is atomization.

How much PSI do you think you're seeing at the injector nozzle? Because if you're boosting say a quarter of what the outlet psi would be then thats quite a substantial force pushing back against the meth. That could be impeding the flow obviously therefor not spraying as much as you think. Just a suggestion but it could be totally unfounded.

New plugs showed up today. GReddy Trust (NGK Iridium) Rotary Racing plugs, 10 heat range. Can't wait to put these in and give it a whirl tomorrow.

It's over 200psi and that's just from when I had the pressure gauge on it last.

The Iridium box is even funnier, they just copied it and didn't even bother to check if they copied it right lolol... Be it high end!

Jesus that's expensive, way more than the Iridium ones that I got, but they aren't the flush ones, they have a standard electrode.

about atomization as an AI, i have always thought that we do not run high enough pressures, i think 500psi would be more logical at the nozzle.
hydraulic tests show for each increase of 100psi reduces droplet sphere size by around 50%,thus exposing more surface area to the oxygen and shorter vaporization time, viscosity and temps playing a roll also. (like alcohol)
also water is a great coolant, but the density weight makes it heavy and dont like to flow thru the conduit piping very well,(AKA manifolds), but higher pressures reduce the weight some.
Darn this whole damn mess gets complicated,
Sorry!! I sometimes go off into a parallel universe,Qwantum physics

I do think that Direct chamber injection is right around the corner, and the materials needed are available now!! from GM if they dont go out of business!
a rotary will probably requie two injector nozzles, something like P port installations, and pressures near 2000psi, with multiple injection pulses, per expansion event,(computor controlled of course!)
Hey guys im 75yrs old give me a break, DUH!! im workin out of a different tool box.
good work MR.Brian

The 10's are in the Leadings. Car seems to run just fine. Seems peppier up high, too. Will get some more data soon.

I've heard negative things about the iridiums. I use the NGK Racing 10.5's or 11.5's at higher boost. From my experience they foul easily and I need a set every few events @ $30 a plug. Ernie told me he has a LOT of sets because of fouling as well. Some clean them and re-use them.
