is it normal when a rotary engine is warming up for it to shake or vibrate? mine seems to have a noticeable amount of vibration/shake when cold starting, once warmed up, the engine is smooth and quiet. it' s a stock s8 short block engine with no porting.

im in christchurch.. it's just seems weird as one of the rotary engines party piece is how quiet and smooth it runs.. im not actually 100% sure if its coming from the engine kus when i lift the bonnet up, the engine idles very quietly..

 

So with the bonnet closed ,were do you notice the vibration and shaking ?

 

Hi, did you sus this out. Is the car an auto and did it feel like a surging harmonic vibration more than a constant vibration when on fast idle warm up.

Hey I have the exact same problem with my car, did you guys figure out what the deal is? The car almost trembles until it warms up a bit then it is completely smooth. Really weird, it is't really a big deal but I'm worried it is a symptom of a potentially bigger issue.

Edit: forgot to add I have a 1996 series 7 totally stock motor.

 

it's the air pump doing its job during warming up. its normal.
