Is running NON-INTERCOOLED an option ?

You need to send RICE an email through his web site

So far as what I have seen when I collected my kit its all engineered by him, hand calibrated and matched to your system, thats why he is GOD, nothing he does not know when it comes to delivering the result. When I was there he was making a system to suit a 1200bhp deisle circuit truck racer
Sends them all over the world, as he has a reputation for this stuff, I have personaly seen the cars he has done and spoken to others as far as Norway to USA and they all agree the man is a genius in this field.

Did he get banned or something?

When I wanted to purchase a W/I kit I looked into getting a kit from RICE but he didn't seem like he wanted to sell me one. Kept telling me I needed to do the research to put one together myself. I don't exactly have the time or skill necessary to engineer a high quality kit that I will stake my engine's life on, so I went to Aquamist.

Richard has been more than helpful, has the greatest customer service a person could ask for, and is extremely knowledgeable. Even though it has been a process getting the HFS-5 kit to work on the RX7, Richard has provided support the whole way through. I am glad I have one of his products on my car.

Yep, check out the 6.97 thread in the drag racing forum and you'll see why.

Back on Topic...

Here are the pictures of the pretty much finalized radiator/ducting/intake and water injection setup. Click them for larger view.

Here is the Back of the radiator with the newly made top panel. I have replaced one of the fan motors as well.

Front shot of the radiator panel

A/C Condenssor w/ air filter and front underpanel, see the AL panel behind to help seal things

This is the other side, toward the front of the car from my relocated oil filter. The A/C drier was mounted lower so that we could completely seal this area.

This is the side with the turbo and how the intake tube seals fairly well with the panel. Then just a couple of misc. shots below

So, you're only running one nozzle and that's before the turbo correct ?

No. Two nozzles. One in the Greddy elbow. In one of the pics you can see the y-in the plastic feed tubing. It is hard to see the nozzle because of the routing of my oil lines.

.3mm (100cc flow) pre comp
.8mm (around 400cc flow) pre throttle body

Great thread. For years I always felt that intercoolers could be eliminated.

Just a question for you guys. Now most of these setups I have seen are for drag, or lightly driven (by lightly driven I mean weekends or very few miles a year) Now how would this setup work for a road racer? Would the bottle be emptied during a short 30 min session on the track, without having to run a 5 gallon tank? It would just enable me to remove excess weight, air blockage, and have a cleaner engine bay. BTW the car is a track car, and only street driven to just blow it out

We have been wanting to take on a project like this for some time. Once our Elise is out of the shop I will begin work on this on our 94 Rx-7. The IC is a PIA anyway.

Our system will inject on a 3D grid based MAP using Air Temp, RPM and Boost. We will have a full safety system to vent the boost if there is no flow or a hardware failure. so the only time you can boost is when you are flowing. The lines will be upgraded to stainless steel and it will be our dual sequential nozzle kit, that will activate different nozzles based on dutycycle of the pump.

This should be fun project. My Rx-7 was out of commision for the last year, I look forward to starting this project, should be pretty cool.

Turbo23

my FD is a dual purpose road racer/street car. i run methanol, around 20-30% of base fuel... i have a 4 gallon fuel cell for the alcohol and consider it to be a minimum for a 20 minute session.

My car is a daily driver and a track car when all is said and done. I have no interest in drag only. I think my 1.5 gallon tank will be enough for my needs in a 20 minutes session. Right now it lasts through over a month of normal driving. Water requires a much smaller tank than methanol because the amount you will be injecting is significantly smaller.

I should have some real world data on the project in the near future. I am planning on getting to the dyno in the next couple of weeks and perhaps a track day at the end of January. We will see... Right now I am just trying to get the car through emissions.

I will update the thread as soon as I have some good hard info and data logs.

AI pre-compressor and AIT sensor right on top of the hat.

+1, or I would mount two nozzles right in the comp. housing outlet, just before that Vband. Probably nice thick casting for tapping a nozzle there.

Guessing 1 each 400 cc/min precompressor and 2 each 300 cc/min on an AI rail next to your fuel rail on the 4 barrel manifold at 20 psi boost. As above AIT in hat. This would be for 50/50 water meth.

if your AI injectant is methanol i suggest you locate just after the compressor as methanol needs time to "flash" before it enters the motor.
