They are hoses for the secondary air injection system. The stock (and many aftermarket) intakes have connections for them to receive filtered air and suppress the "moo" noise the air pump sometimes makes.

Dave,

Does that moo noise seem to happen more on deceleration? Or maybe is it more noticeable on deceleration? Mine has a funny noise and it happens everytime on deceleration from about 3,700 to 3,500 rpm. Somebody mentioned that it might be the air pump to me, so I was just curious.

Toyzrus - Dave answered your question, but I just wanted to mention this, that those 2 hoses would plumb into the stock airbox (hence filtered air like Dave said) ... if the stock airbox were there.

Gotta love the moo or go back to a box intake! I believe the air pump is on below 3200rpm.

Filter it. Some part, no matter what, is breathing that air. Any paper, dust, screws, that are in the air are going to be inhaled.

Technically, you should have one on the air pump intake, but since the return hose doesn't feed back into the intake it shouldn't matter.

Air pump is active below 3800rpm and is notorious for the 'moo'. Dale posted a solution that I used almost a year ago when I was still using the air pump and it worked perfectly.

I suggest removing the airpump and associated ACV to save weight and clean up the engine bay but that isnt always possible depending on state.

Get a proper intake or put the stock intake back in. As stated above, you already know what those hoses go to. A proper intake will have provisions to connect those hoses.
