Angry wtf, my tach is dancing!

so... when i start my car, my tach says i'm doing 500-700rpm more than my PFC. it kinda dances around a bit here and there and after about 5 minutes it works its way back to matching up 1:1 and not dacing anymore. anyone else ever have this? know what the issue could be? is it a bad sensor or what?

I had my oil gauge going nuts couple of times a while ago, it just started working fine after few days and ever since is OK.

i figured that's what it was... hehe, i was at the driving range before it happened... was talking to the woman about getting a daily driver for me soon after we get a house... i think it got jealous i'm not too worried about it... push comes to shove, i'll have to change a sensor or sender unit or something i guess. Check the connection on the passenger side of the car, behind the kick panel.

This is a known problem. Solder joints in the tach's circuit board crack over time - re-solder them and everything is all good. If you need help, find a 2nd gen guy - I can fix broken solder joints in my sleep .

For some time, it was thought the only solution was to totally replace the tach, then someone figured out that it was just good ol' broken solder joints. Second gens have solder joint problems all over the place - CPU, idiot lights, etc.
