Wierd oil leak after getting fixed?!wtf
ok guys here is a good one for ya, i took my FD to my buddy since he had alift and we put er up in the air. seemed the lower secondary turbo return lines were leakin a tad by the gaskets going back to the block. the car never leaked enough to drip on the ground, but i still wanted to fix it. Every other morning when u'd start it up it would be like a bug bomb went off from the smoke. she would smoke for about 2 min then stop. i had the compression checked. perfect. had my buddy who knows Alot about fds come in from out of town, he drove it, said it felt great. So i had my other buddy with the lift swap em and fix the leak wtih new gaskets. now it leaks like a sive! but not from the turbos. it seems like it is coming from the rear main seal, but not sure. And it also floods itself very easliy now too. every other time trying to start it it takes atleast 5 min trying to get it to ignite, and i dont really smell gas, but it acts like it is flooded, and finally catches.... ( no i dont touch the gas pedal; ever when trying to start or turn off). i always let it sit for 30 sec-1 min when turning off. anyone see a connection between my symptoms!? thanks guys.

Is it white smoke with a sweet smell to it? If so you may have the dreaded coolant o-ring failure and if you search the forum you'll find various ways to test for that. Difficulty starting with lots of white smoke are signs of that condition.

I would suggest... buy 2-3 cans of brake cleaner... lift the car... spray the **** out of it... so its clean.... let set for 15-30 min get in car, start, lift, look for it... also make sure to remove the pan gaurding the tranny... then open the peep hole on the bottom of the bell housing.

thanx man, ther is one other thing i am going to try, i changed my bov to a used hks ssqv and now that i think of it the hard time starting happened right after i used it. maybe it is staying open when i crank, it is used and i noticed it blows off real slow. ~: so i think ill try going back to stock and see if it changes anything about the starting issue. as for the leak, i am on it! thanx again!
