Most likely time consuming, but semi straight forward.

Step 1 though 238: Take stuff apart, remove old odo, install new odo. Put stuff back together.

Step 239: Ponder over left over screws and bolts.

Not very difficult in my opinion. Remove a pillar and steering column covers along with vent panel under the steering wheel. Lower the steering column, remove bolts holding the gauge surround (one on each side) and pull out the gauge surround assembly. You may have to tug on it man sytle so, don't be a whimp. After you pull it out, seperate the hood and remove the screws holding the cluster in. Use a small flat heat screwdriver and pull up on the tabs holding the clear plastic cover. Do the same for the black bezel below. Unscrew the part you are changing and re-install.

Did I miss anything? Anyone, anyone?

Should be a dime a dozen used. I have also heard of a bad bulb being the cause of the no-light odometer.

Worth a try. Hit up the junkyard and find some '90s Mazdas - you should be able to load up with a pocketful of bulbs for nothing.

Yeah, seems like Fritz Flynn would have a couple laying around. PM him. Sure beats $400.

Did I miss something? Where did the say that there was a light out? When he says the odometer is not working, I'm thinking the needle is not moving and the unit is not regestering any miles traveled.

You should be done within an hour or two at most!!!

I just did my cluster removal THREE times, and it's pretty easy, just don't forget the screw that's behind the side panel where the vents come through the door. I didn't have to drop my steering column and make sure that you pull the hood TOWARDS you and not straight up. I didn't even take my radar detector or FC down. I did have to remove my pillar-mounted gauges. I provided the link that I used to start with.

My experience

In Case Links don't work this one should take you straight to the hood removal
