Wiring Harness Question
Im about to do my automatic to manual swap. I have a 5 speed main engine wiring harness and also the dash harness from a 5 speed. My friend who is doing the swap thinks it may just be easier to just rewire the automatic wiring harness because he doesnt want to mess with the dash harness, but we arent sure if we have to.
We were wondering if the 5 speed main engine wiring harness would plug right into the automatic dash harness or did you have to replace the dash harness if you replace the engine harness. Is the auto dash harness different? I personally would feel better replacing the harness with the 5 speed instead of rewiring, but he doesnt really want to mess with the dash harness and stuff.. Could you just replace the engine wiring harness with the 5 speed without messing with the dash harness or would it not plug right up? Thanks

The engine harness for a 5 speed will not match with the auto dash harness. The x-05 (big blue on auto), smaller blue connector from engine harness will not mate with the huge one from the auto front harness. The dash harness will not mate with the engine harness either.
I had Dave at KD reterminate my harness...you need to have the 5 speed engine and the 5speed RING harness by the ecu that connects the engine to the dash and front harnesses via a ring of clips harness. The termination is not obvious, send the ring harness Dave and he will reterminate it for you ($125)

Btw, all of my functions work and this is much easier to do than replace the dash and front harness.
my back-up light works fine, no start switch on clutch...no nuetral switch necessary since I have removed AWS...

I understand the nuetral switch tells the AWs when it is warming up to reduce rpms when disabled so that you dont start your car at 3k rpms during warmup. Ever notice when engaging a gear during aws the rpms will suddenly drop? I beleive this is the function of the neutral switch.
