Wiring Harness Connector Source
Can anyone point me to a place that sells the wiring harness connectors? specifically the ones up around the thermostat housing.
Also, was cleaning up the harness and it looks like someone had replaced some wires with bigger gauge brown one right near the ECM. I thought I would pick up another stock one and when I looked at the new-old one, it had the same wires...(94 Auto), so I am wondering if this is a factory job or some dealer recall work.
The wiring work is crappy and not something I want to trust...

i've been looking for some replacement connectors as well. I'm considering using molex connectors at this site: www.molex.com Although I would like to use OEM connectors. Any one else have any suggestions?

Thanks Mahjik..
I am concerned that used connectors will have about the same issue... brittleness etc.... I figured someone would have to know what connectors these are.... If I could identify the style, I can find a connector.
New connectors can be wired without splicing usually..wouldn't that be cool...?

Go to your local Mazda dealer. They should have a book with the common connectors listed. You can't order connectors for an RX-7, but for the most part, you should be able to order the connectors for another car. For instance: The alternator connector is the same on the RX-7 as it is on a late model 4 cyl. 626. That part is a Ford parts bin common connector. Yes you heard it right. The RX-7 has Ford parts on it (or at least some Fords have Mazda parts on them) It will probably take a little research on your part with the help of the parts guy, but you should be able to get most of them.
Also: The connectors usually come with the appropriate crimp connectors and grommets seperately so all you have to do is cut the wire, crimp on the metal connector, slide that into the plastic connector housing and you're done. I posted the part number for the Alternator connector a long time ago so you could probably do a search for that one as well

Thanks, Quicksilver. I have one broken connector also, the one that goes to the temp sender for the auto tranny. I spent 15 minutes with the local dealer at the part counter and they were absolutely no help at all. I was simply trying to find something...ANYTHING that would show the connector, but all the microfische they had didn't show it......dammit!
I really don't relish a second trip back there.....sigh.

I change connectors to GM weather pack connectors .I keep 1 wire , 2 wire ,3 wire ,4 wire ,ones in the drawer at all times .They come 5 males and 5 females to the box .Most auto parts stores can get them .The small rubber rings come 25 per box as do the metal parts .You can get them by the single set but it cost more .If I solder wires into a senser that had a plug , I fill the space with epoxy . It works for me ,my customers and General Motors corp .

Just thought I'd let you know that the number I gave you is a WATTS line. (sorry, didn't know) meaning it only works if you are calling from within N.C. Here's the direct line:

I am searching too for rx7 fd connectors but I can not find anything.
I thing that the better way to make your own harness is to buy a broke harness and clean very well with philips blue spray and soft brush the connectors and finaly resolder new silicon wires and a good temperature protection tape on it.
Ofcourse the best way is to found brand new connectors but mazda didnt give it.

I believe AMP makes the connectors...at least some of them, as the logo is printed on some.
Also (if the wire insulation is damaged...no conductors broken), you can slide heat shrink down the wire...once cut off the harness...into the rubber grommet on the back of the connector, and then fill the back of the connector with sensor safe RTV. Make sure the release arm can still move. I made a little boot with teflon tape so the rtv wouldn't stick to the tape and I could fill the connector past the plastic into a formed little boot...
