will weather stipping help reduce temps

i dont know if its really called weather stripping but im talking about the foam crap that is on the side of the radiator. i have had the worst luck with my koyo as it doesnt cool at all. i did not add any stripping on the sides of the radiator when first installed though. if i get some and put it on the sides and top or where ever i can, do you think it will drop H2O temps drastically. i have seen almost 230 degrees cruising around town at times with outside temps of high 90's low 100's. i know its not a hose, the AST, CAP, or anything else for that fact cause i replaced it all when i did this. im measuring temps with a DEFI water temp gauge. any and all input is appreciated.

Yes, that is why you need to seal off as many paths around the radiator as possible. I used as much 1"x1" foam around the edges of my M2 radiator as possible. I even put some where the IC duct had clearance to surrounding plastic work. Be sure your undertray is well sealed as well.

Air traveling around the radiator is air not traveling through it.

Please make EXTRA sure you've gotten all the air out of the system. Sometimes when people install a radiator, there is air that is quite stubborn to get out. If you do not have an AST any longer, this makes it even more critical to check it thoroughly.

Good reason why people SHOULD keep the AST.

And for the original poster, YES...it makes quite a difference....I should know...

well guys just got done playing with all the weatherstripping stuff. actually i used the thick foam pipe wrap. jammed it in place and it didnt budge. well my temps are about 10 degrees cooler(stays around 195-200) with fans on and right around 210ish without fans. this was tonight at about 90 degrees outside. ill take it to the test tomorrow when CA turns to hell once again. ill inform you again, and if this comes to be true, i apologize for bad mouthing the koyo. it was the installers fault for not adding air traps. also sealed off most of the under belly tray.
