Wierd Problems, broken tach, and a beeping sound
So my tach is broken, like many other people's, and I went about fixing it today. I followed the directions posted here by 7at11 https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ht=tach+needle
Much like 7at11, it didn't work for me. Has anyone else had any luck fixing this issue, if the problem was not those solder joints?
But after re-installing the tach, I had another issue. My car started beeping at me. It was a series of 5 beeps, and it happend 5 times, then it stopped. 3 minutes later it did the 5 series of 5 beeps again, then stopped.
Now it does it every time I start the car. The only other thing I changed while having the instrument cluster out, was I took out the wiring harness for an apex'i turbo timer, because I left it in there after not installing the thing the first time. So I took it out, and I get this beeping. It sounds like it's coming from the dash somewhere, but I can't even pinpoint that. Does anyone have any idea on this one?

I just went out to listen to the beep again, and it sounds like it's coming from my Profec B thats mounted up where that little crotch vent used to be, right under the steering column. Do Profec B's beep? Or make any noise?

The only thing I know of that beeps is the redline alarm, which could be the problem considering your having trouble with the tach, and the alarm that beeps when the door is open with keys in the ignition.
I dunno?

I guess it could be from that, but it's a rythmic pattern. 5 beeps, all approx 1 second long, with 1 second between beeps. It does 5 sets of 5 beeps. (25 total) I find it hard to believe that the tach would malfunction with that kind of precision, setting off the alarm for that many intervals evey time.
It's not the door open alarm, because it happens when I'm driving too, doors are clearly closed. And it isn't the coolant buzzer, because the water temp gauge works fine, and never goes higher than the middle.
No one has a real fix for this?!? I don't wanna spend $450 for a new instrument cluster from mazduh.

I just took it for another drive, to listen to the beeping.
It's not the Profec, it's coming from the area by the drivers right knee, but closer to the firewall. Imagine holding a ruler at your knee, and point it towards the front of the car. At the end of the ruler is the source of my beeping.
What beeps? This is killing me. I don't know of anything that should beep.

the airbag system beeps ina series of five beeps when there is something wrong with it maybe you unplugged something by accident. do all of the lights in the cluster work? are all the fuses good?
if you have a FSM it will explain the system and troubleshooting(but the light in the dash needs to work)

Oh, **** yeah, I forgot. I also removed the airbag light, because it was flashing the whole time the car was running. I guess thats it then? I'll have to check out the owners manual to make sure. I liked the flashing better than the beeping, so I'll put that light back in. Thanks guys, as always, someone always knows the answer.
