Wideband bung placement
I am getting ready to install my WB and am torn as to if I should just put it in the stock location and replace the stock O2 sensor, or if that is too close to the turbos. Has anyone just put it in the stock location and had problems?

Mine is mounted in the mid pipe right after the down pipe. Thats where Chris and Ari suggested to mount the sensor. Also make sure you have the sensor mounted vertical as possible.

I have a standard downpipe with my sensor fitted in the downpipe just where it levels off before the cat. Plenty of room to fit and weld with the downpipe in situ and you can get the sensor between the 10 - 2 clock position easily. I also fitted a 4" copper heatsink which I think if you are planning to fit in the stock location would be a necessity.
From what I,ve read the stock location is OK but working life of the sensor is reduced due to the high temperatures, but this could be BS.

Condensation damages the sensor, therefore any water present in the exhaust will not touch the sensor if its fitted in the " top" of the pipe or between 10 -2 o clock position.. You should only switch the sensor on just after the car is started so that any blast of condensation does not damage the hot sensor. My LM1 is powered so that the sensor swiches off while cranking.

from what i've read, your sensor is being heated up when power is going to it, and when the condensation in your exhaust piping touches the heated o2, it damages it
so, if you turn your key to ign 2 and don't fire up the engine, your o2 is starting to heat up, so if you fire up after leaving it in ign 2 for 30+ seconds (i think) the condensation that blows through the exhaust on start up will touch/damage the sensor
key point: just turn on the car, don't sit in ign2. if you do sit in ign2 turn off for a bit then fire up

I dont think there's anyone in the world that would mount it at 6 o'clock... LOL. I mount mine at 9 o'clock for fitment. Furthermore, condensation realistically will cover the inside of the exhaust system. As long as you don't use your exhaust system to route plumbing I think it'll be fine...

I have mine at the end of the downpipe, just before the flange. It's pretty straight up and down, between the tranny and tranny tunnel. Works wonderfully, and the cable reaches to the LC-1 box I've got near the ABS unit.
Start of midpipe/highflow cat is also a good idea, and it's easier to remove from the car to get the bung installed.
