Why should I get a RX-7
it looks exotic, it corners with incredible grip, its all you need from a sports car....when its running
my concerns in this 93 rx-7 with 70k......
what are the major problems that I would be running in to in the next few years?
Whats reliable in this car and what are not.
how much have you guys all spend in parts?
What should I check b4 Buying it?
this car haven't been beat on, everything works, how much is a good price for it?

It is a MONEY pit mine had 72K miles when I bought it a year ago. I have put over $15K into it since then. My engine popped at 80K that was the end of the begining for me. The 65K to 85K miles is the range the engine is most likely to go.

At 70K an RX7 motor is approaching the end of its natural life. Heat from the turbos have probably cooked all the zillions of vacuum hoses which are used to control all sorts of things. The apex seals (ie: piston rings) could be pretty brittle too.

The Maintainence costs are a little exagerated, provided you make sure you spend a bit up front on preventative maintainence, and don't chintz out.
What often happens is folks buy these cars, and expect that every dollar they have left over after their car payment can go towards horsepower increasing mods, and they can't.
If you purchase a car w/ good compression, and a proper boost pattern, then take the time and expense right away to flush all the fluids, do a silicon tie-wrap (which will include replacing any suspect solonoids and such), put a water temp guage on it and bulletproof the cooling system, and track down anything else that seems weird, you'll be well on your way to being able modify it in the proper order, and avoid catastophic repair costs.
Theres nothing else on the road that can offer the same driving dynamic as the FD. Plenty can match its straight-line speed, so if thats your bag, look elsewhere. But nothing will match the razor-sharp, precise feel for anything near the price.

Welps..I've been driving my RX-7 since November now.
Haven't had any problems other than the Y-pipe coupling hole...that's it. Oh..and a shot pre-cat..but all of that is getting replaced soon. The compression is low, but everything is running pretty decently.
If it keeps up..I'll hit a 100k without a problem to worry about. Of course..that's if for some reason the rebuild doesn't go through. Which I find highly unlikely.
