Why don’t we have a Big FD Drag Racing Community like other Car Forums?

I know the FD RX7 is good at handling etc. etc. etc but it can also be made to be a excellent drag/street car.

You take a look at the Supra, Dsm, Evo, Civic and even Neon forums and those guys have a big drag racing community.

Why can’t we have this? I see plenty of people talking about drag racing but nothing serious.

A separate drag racing sub-forum would be awesome.

How many FD's do you see at the strip compared to Supra, Dsm, Evo, Civic and even Neon? There's your answer.

Besides, we already hace a race section. If you were competing at local tractor pulls with your FD you could still post there

^LOL

as rare as FD's are and becoming, not many dedicate their FD solely to drag...as least not the FD owners I know and have met.

I see just as many serious FD's as I see serious Supras, Evo's etc. etc. etc.

The race section sub-forum is more suited for scca type racing anyhow. Take a look at the posts in there and you'll see.

There are plenty of FD drag racers on this forum but we're kinda left outside in the cold.

We have a drag times sub-forum in the 3rd gen section. And the race sub-forum, which is the appropriate place to discuss the subject, IMO.

This is what I'm talking about. You move us to where nobody go's. We can't get any good information because you move us to sub-forums that nobody visits.

Whats so fun about drag...lets go fast for 13 seconds or less. Too me drag is boring as hell, these cars are meant for track and were built for track thats y we dont see a HUGE drag community. just my .02 nothing personal.

I riden in a 8 second pro stock funny car and I can tell you that it is most definatly a rush. Personally I'm not a big fan of drag racing because it's to short. All the anticipation for 10-14 seconds of fun. I'd rather go road racing and be on edge all day.

So, who would have a problem adding on a seperate drag-racing sub forum like most other forums? It wouldn't hurt anyone and it would give us drag racers a place to post information and gather information. There is no real place for us to go and find information because it's spread all over the forum.

i agree, what would it hurt to put in a drag racing sub-forum.

i think there would be enough people to keep it going. there are at least 15-20 serious drag racers on this forum, then all the people that jsut get there cars want help/tips.

I agree with Lupe on this. We need a sub forum for drag racing. That would be great!

I would like to see a Drag racing section aswell. I know that my project is nearly complete and I would be very interested to see a forum where the Drag racers can easily find information.

This way maybe more people would build 500-700hp FD's.

While I personally feel that a 'drag racing FD' is not what the cars were ever meant for, I certainly can appreciate someone that has taken the time, money, and effort to make a quick quarter-mile car out of one, and the really bad-*** ones need to have a "bragging board" to showcase themselves. And let's face it....it is much harder to make the 'no-torque-by-comparison' rotary be competitive in drag racing, so that means even more kudos to those that do it.

There is (or was) a "9-second" FD here in Wichita at one time. The poor thing was just a shell of its former self but it was a screaming mother by all accounts!

I'm behind Eric on this too. You have people posting questions on how to launch their cars
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=launching+fd

How fast is a 300rwhp rx would do in the 1/4:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=launching+fd

60ft times with 5 speed:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=launching+fd

These are just a few of MANY that I can justify and I know no one cares what their 60ft time is on a circuit.

I support the drag racing thread as one of the main threads. There are lot of guys who drag here, whether it's on the street or on the 1320. I would be a great help to everyone in building a good track(1/4 mile) car/street car.

Just my .02

Keith

this might also keep the conversations on the same subject without all the differing opinions!
