Question Why does the fd only have 4 lugs?

sorry if this is a stupid question, but i was just wondering why fd's only came four lug. I'm not very knowledgeable w/ rx7's, but i assumed performance vehicles usually came five lug. Hell, even my heavy *** non turbo car is five lug. Can someone, PLEASE, please, PLEASE explain this one to me?

I always thought they were 5 lug. I guess I'll have to go outside and check.

He may be a victim of mickey mousification from a previous owner who thought that it was more important to make the car fit the wheels than the wheels fit the car. I have seen it before, and it is ok if done on a nissan mini-truck, honda, or pinto, but not on a sports car.

Oh wait I just figured it out. I think he saw an FD with the four lug conversion, so the owner was able to fit on those tight *** 16 inch HoNdA GsR rims with those fat *** 205 Kumo tires. Yeah thats a tight mod.

holy ****, i actually got replies???

wow, this is unheard of. Car-specific internet forums usually don't seem to be this helpful. Thanks, guys.

Like i said, it was a stupid question, but an honest one. My buddy said they came only four lug, and i wanted to ask rx7 owners about it, so hence the post =] I really didn't know...and my lazy didn't go so far as to look for a pic to examine for myself (i don't own an FD, obviously).

But seriously, thanks for clearing that up. Truely astounding... Supra owners, 3000gt owners, and (unfortunately) fellow Z owners seem to usually feel that they're above helping to answer questions of the uninformed.

Thanks guys, and that will be enough of me for the time being.

PS- change the featured ride. i could swear i've been looking at that red fc for months...

It really is like that. Bunch of people saying "look at my new wing and argueing over which design came first, the viper or the rx7!"

Most tech. threads never get answered or "use the search button", only bringing up more threads of "use the search button!" 3rd gen forum has really REALLY gone downhill. You get 200 replies on a thread asking if you gain HP with a FMIC and not when someone is asking for help with a problem. Used to come on here and ask a question and have it answered TRUTHFULLY in an hour.

End of rant.

street king,
yeah, alot of times it looks like the more knowledgeable posters/ elder enthusiasts don't find it worth their time anymore to help anyone out...matter of fact, it's been going on at twinturbo.net for quite a while now. Rather than spending the time it takes to answer a question, people'd rather spend that same amount of time on typing "use search." It's understandable in alot of cases when people ask the exact same questions daily, but sometimes nowadays it looks like car enthusiasm can only be "elite." Those that can help, won't. Those that can't will speculate.

I'd sure be in a heap of trouble if all the local Z guys haven't helped me out with my car these past 2 years of ownership.

Base model 2nd Gen's and 1st Gens are 4 lug. FD's are 5 lugs as everyone's already said.

That is true. The first Vipers out were all convertables/targa tops and then they made the coupe. I forget what year it was but it was definately after the FD came out.(double bubble in the roof line)
