NO....Do not use motor oil! Use 1oz. of 2cycle oil or protec R to every gallon of fuel. I've been using the little 4oz. bottles for about 2yrs now.

1oz seems kinda a lot for each gallon, 400:1 for the street and 200:1 for race is the ratio that most people seem to use.

good luck

BTW: I personnaly throw in 4 oz for every refill I do which is about 12-14 gallons.

its oil. Its to compensate for poorly designed oil injectors. I say they were poorly designed because they dont spread the oil, the oil starts to just run down the side of the housing after a while so adding oil into the fuel compensates for this.

I use Castrol Super-outboard oil in the area of 10 ounces per 15-18 gallon fill-up..
A quart of the castrol cost $3 compared to $2 per 4 ounces..

I've used it before and basically it's only insurance and helps the life of the motor but, should I use this during break-in of a freshly rebuilt motor?

Okay I see. Damn how come with all the rotary knowledge I never hear about this habitchually? Maybe it's just me, but I'll store it in my head now . So I guess basically after you fill up, you just pour some oil in the gas tank...or something like that.

It's 2 stroke oil, NOT motor oil.

u dump it in before u fill up. The gas will mix with the oil and stay mixed for several months without separating

I use the MMO also. I bought a quart and a gallon. It is hard to pour the gallon through a funnel into a 4 oz. bottle. So I pour from the quart bottle and just refill it with the gallon jug ($12-$14). The smoke at startup seems to be a lot less.

Can you get the Marvel Mystery Oil at any store or is it some special order product?

I have seen it at every single auto parts store and at Wal-Mart. I have only seen the gallon jugs at auto parts stores though.

I sometimes use MMO, the Marvel Mystery oil is easily purchased at most autostores, shucks, NAPA, etc.

So you guys think this can do the same job as the Protek R from pettit? would you use the same 4oz of MMO?

If yes then I am going to start recycling the little Protek 4oz container and sticking MMO in there...

I've used it since my rebuild a few months back. Went 8 years with out (blew a water seal not an Apex seal).

Can't hurt and I elected 3mm seals now (please no comments on this) so I'm thinking its a good idea.

Don't know about MMO but its popular too.
