Are MMO and Protek-R the same thing?

Ok... I've just spent the past hour searching threads, and yes I know it's a dead horse, but no one ever seems to answer if Protek-R is Marvel (or is it Polaris jetski 2 stroke oil... seen that one too) or not. We know it's Klotz it seems, but is that Marvel? Never having seen Protek or Klotz, I have no idea myself.

Since I got my engine rebuilt I've only used Royal Purple in it, but I'm running low on my stock and it's all special order around here (moved from Houston to Arkansas). So it would be nice to go to redneck Macy's (Walmart) and be able to get something that's working just as good for everyone that's tried it

So, those who have been using MMO for premix and have had a rebuild, how did it work for your engine? Speak up!

Sticking with RP though until I get a good review from someone who's done a rebuild after MMO.

MMO is more of a cleaner than a lubricant. As mentioned, they are not the same.

I'd recommend picking up the Idemitsu synth premix from www.rx7.com, it's formulated to be used in the rotary engine. I've been using it for years, with zero (additional, heh) smoke or exhaust smell.

MMO has very little, if any, lubricating ability. It has a very thin viscosity and I think it actually has more solvent qualities. The label says something about a fuel system lubricant and cleaner, but I would not use it as a pre-mix without a proper functioning OMP.

Using Protek-R right now and noticed that my Knock levels decreased....although car smokes a bit more at start up...I will go back to Idemitsu once I am done with the Protek-R.

That's what I thought... just saw an awful lot of threads with people using it as premix, which scares the crap out of me.

Thanks all, I'll stick with special ordering my royal purple then.
