Who to build best street/autocross motor?

My 93 is all original with 40,000 miles. Performance seems fine but I'd like to do some lite upgrades and improve reliaibility. Don't want to pull motor myself. Who is the best East of the Mississipi and South of Ohio? Given it's occasional use I'd enjoy the performance enhancements now even if it may have a few miles left. Or is the concensus (like my wife) that I've lost my mind to break open a running car?

Also I could use a good local mechanic to N Alabama as the dealer ship, which wasn't much before, sold the Mazda franchise (who is gonna invest in learing to work on such an obscure car).

I've checked the Petit site and they look like a possibility. How bout second part of question- rebuild a good running motor at 40k or toss on dp etc and enjoy what's left?

Enjoy whats left, the only thing you would do different when rebuilding is get it ported or do some oil mods. Wait until 80k miles or when you blow it.

im at 73k all stock but i leak oil like 1/4 quart everytime i drive...so im asking myself the same question. Plus it costs like $600 to fix the oil leak. Sheesh I can get a new motor for $1500 and then the leak would be stopped lol. I decided to let it roll till she blows but I was told be the local rebuild shop that it is better to rebuild it now because they will be able to salvage everything, If I wait till it blows I may have to replace things at a higher cost. Man do they make it difficult or what. Here's a good thread just to get info. Good luck

Get a downpipe and a catback, radiator, coilover suspension, some ebc or hawk pads, an aluminum AST.

Rebuilding the motor with 40k on it is kinda silly, in my opinion.

I'd take your FD to Pettit. Pricey, but they know their ****.
