Most of the so-called kits are just a minimal (and incomplete) set of parts that you could buy in any auto store.

You can put your own kit together fairly easily: link.

I don't see a breaker in the picture - or perhaps I missed it.

Running a battery power cable through the car without a breaker is incredibly dangerous. Even 24 AWG power wires should be fused.

Only if it is ran incorrectly is it dangerous. I'll admit it is good insurance but not neccessarily required.

All automotive power wire should be fused. This applies 1000x for 0-4 gauge wire that goes from the battery to the opposite end of the car.

It is your car and you can do what you want with it but do not spread the idea that fuses or breakers are somehow optional components in a battery relocation. They are not. This is a very basic electrical wiring 101 principle - and is particularly important in automotive applications because of vibration and the fact that cars can crash and wiring can become damaged and ignite spilled fuel.

Then please explain to me why mazda did not fuse the power wire to the starter?

And all i'm saying is a properly ran power cable should not need fused and this only would apply to the battery cable. I know that all others need fused to make sure devices do not overload the wires. And i would recommend a fuse. It's just that i have not done it and i get sick of people telling me that it's mandatory and i'm going to set my car on fire.

I don't think any manufacturers do because they are typically located very close to each other. This is an engineering compromise. There has been some research into crash-activated breakers for the battery to starter connection though I am not sure if any are in production.

It's not going to cause your car to burn down any more than not wearing a seat belt is going to result in a fatal accident. However, these puppies cost about $20-$30. There is no reason not to run one.

in that writ-up they are using "tamiya" connectors

switch those out for "Deans" connectors

that will give you a much better contact, with less corosion/ shorting risk.

I'd also try to solder as much as you can, instead of crimping.

shrink tubing is your friend (leave no copper exposed)

wait until you've selected the kit first. some new ones will be on the market soon and some will have provisions to use the stock battery in the stock location.

There is no reason to solder. A proper crimp connector is superior in an automotive environment. MILSPEC standards for avionics connections have required crimped connectors since the 1970s.
