but on a more positive note: how you can get so pissed and sick of the vandalism, and how as soon as you're done solving one problem you have another, and you decide to sell the car and do something fun with the money. So you go down to Autotrader and put the car up for sell. Then 3 days later after all the calls and questions about your car you change you voice mail saying that "the car is no longer for sell" and you decide to keep it. and then you walk outside and look at her and smile and find yourself appologizeing in your head for the thought of selling her. hahaha i'm obsessed!

You, my friend, need to move. Even if you were driving a Class A hooptie, you'd still need new neighbors by the sounds of it...

After I drive the car, I get out and walk away. I always have to turn around and take another look at my beautiful FD as I am leaving. Every time

Those are 70's-era washer/dryer *****, not wheels.

i agree with spoolage, ive never had a car fit me like the FD does...
You don't drive an FD, you strap it on like an F-16. I pre-flight it like an aircraft with a walk-around checking tire inflation/body dings, then harness up, adjust your PFC/Profec for ambient temps and boost level needed, flip on your fan mod switch, start it in gear to avoid the AWS, scan the instrument panel and listen for unusual noises during a short warm-up before hitting the audio-on, etc.

"Ground this is Foxtrot Delta Three Sierra, taxi request to runway one-niner left with bravo."

Anyone else "pre-flight" their FD, especially pilots?

Toadman, I some times do. I recently let my brother drive my FD when he was visiting me and I felt like I had to give him a two hour class before he got in.. He's been driving for years and I still felt like I was teaching a 15 year old how to drive.. it was nerve wrecking.

I'm also very glad that there are other crazies like me on the board. Good to know i'm not the only one who look back at the car as I walk away.. Or stare at it as walking toward the car and thinking.. Damn, that car looks OSSUM!

same here

but am i the only that sees the car at ugly angles as well? LOL

cause sometimes if i park at a friends house or something and i walk far away, i look back and the angle sucks and the car looks ugly, like a cheap car or something..but then there are other times where i park by a store and i enter the store, i look out of their door and i can see a nice view and the angle is nice and makes the car look hotter than it already is..

is it just me?

Toad, since you have a PFC, you don't have the AWS so don't worry about starting it in gear. I still love the car even after 11 years. The FC looks dated to me now even though I stil like it. The SA's have that nostalgic appeal to them so I still like them.

I love the FD, but the one I got was a mistake, it had a cracked radiator the owner never told me about, it was automatic, and it came with a fast and the furious bumper. But for $9000 and a clean title, I think it was a steal.

But yeah... I look back at my car all the time whenever i park it. I love/hate how there's a small group of people around my car when i'm walkin towards it once in a while. I like look on chicks faces when I don't say anything about owning one and they see me get into it as they say "that's your car!?" Other than that, I treat my car the best i could. I just wish the previous owners did too.... I'm owner number 6!

I've driven a trans am gt, camaro ss, porsche 911, 3 different FC's, a 300zx, c4 corvette, and nothing comes close to the feeling I get when I get in my FD. If there was any car that suited me better than the FD i would admit it but I really haven't found one yet. Nothing compares, even if the other cars were faster, they weren't as fun. None of those other cars were fast, could handle, and i felt comfortable driving. Everything else feels heavy, I guess the fact that i'm not the lightest person being 6'4" 215lbs i feel so much lighter in my car. It gives me a feeling of being attractive, agile, and fast. A car that can do all that must be a truly amazing machine. Thats why I love my FD.

Car gets plenty of attention. Sometimes too much.

But, have any of you noticed that even three to five year olds crane their necks and smile when they see your car? That says a lot about primal response to a beautiful car.

Definately how well it fits. actually, I love everything about the car...except when it throws a fit.

I was parked last night standing around talking with some friends and an 80s chevy malibu(I think) slowly drove by with the driver and passenger hanging out saying sweet car. Then they ran over a curb and out into the street. I couldnt stop laughing.

The synergy achieved by Mazda using a super computer to select the car's design. A point in sports car history. Unique. Plus I had to sell my 1st FD when #3 child came along and now that he's 10, I had a window to buy one again. Good thing I did this last year. I cant find very many low milage cars any more.
