Pulling up at a popular deli for college kids in my stock FD, windows down, and at a table outside the deli which I parked in front of, I hear a girl at the table comment "wow that car is gorgeous"

also, the size and shape of the interior feels like it just wraps around you.

I like the fact that the car's are 10+ years and they still have a timeless design, and that most people still don't know what type car it is, and that most of people that don't know about the motor still trys to pretend they do

I love the fact that I hardly ever see another FD on the road. Everybody that sees it just can't keep their eyes off it. Oh the jelousy they go through!

the sound, the sexy body curves... The power and handling, and it's tight interior .. wow! The FD is very special... very proud of owning one.

As its been said over and over.. timeless body.. i still have tons of people ask me what type of car it is... asking if its brand new.. and the like...

I love the feel of the car on the road and the interior is snug.

As i've driven many other cars.. i always find myself comparing them to the RX-7... not one that i have driven makes me even think of replacing it.

Definitely the attention. It seems like half of the wing-nuts out there don't even know what kind of car it is when they see it. "OOOooohhh, what is that?!"

I love the tons of crazy noises, the waaaaaa of the rotary engine, the spooling of the turbo, the insane noise of the atmosphere wastegate when it opens and then the ricey blowoff at the end.

sounds like a damn war is being fought under my hood

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy, but the kid owners are doing nothing more than destroying the legacy of the "rx" by burying them into telephone poles and guardrails. The most dangerous thing to an FD is any inexperienced driver but even more so an 18-19 year old hothead dipshit that thinks because he has bought a car that can handle he has top notch driving ability. There is a reason nearly half of the FD's the US started with aren't on the streets anymore, and it is certainly not because they are in people's living rooms on display. With the amount of crashes a good portion of them fatal, engine fires, and other mishaps, the US has halved it's population of FD's.

The kid owners for the most part do nothing good for these cars. It is a shame that they have dropped in price so much because it merely encourages people to buy them for their children, or for idiot teenagers to take out loans only to get up to their eyeballs in debt.

There are some good kid owners of these cars. But frankly, unless mommy and daddy have got your back 100% of the way, you have a great full time job, or you recently won the 50k scratch ticket on your way home from school, the cost of initial purchase, insurance, and upkeep are simply out of reach for the majority of people under 21.

In the end it all comes down to mentality and pocket. If you have a good mentality and don't drive like your pretending to qualify for JGTC, do mods appropriately, get a car tuned, and set up before "uppin' da booooo0000ooost" you can keep the car running well and in one piece. If you have deep pockets you can make up for all your stupid mistakes and can afford to buy new body panels and rebuilds once a month.

Ideally however you want to have a happy medium, a mentality that is fit your level of driving experience and aptitude in how to appropriately modify a car, and a pocket that can maintain the hobby without going deep into debt on credit.

Kids though, definitely are far from what is keeping the "RX" legacy alive.

Zzzzzzzzzzz... this has been said about a billion times already. If we're still on the forum modifying and asking questions, then obviously we haven't crashed it yet, and obviously we don't think we know everything. Why do so many older guys on this forum have to sound like 75 year old geezers complaining about kids these days? I'm sure you all would have killed to have a car like this when you were younger. There are a lot of us younger owners that have worked our asses off to own such a fantastic car, and we're extremely appreciative to those older owners who help us out with our (sometimes dumb) questions, instead of complaining like they're jealous that we have this car so young. Guys like GoodfellaFD3S have been invaluable to me and other new owners who want to learn so that someday we can BE you older experts. Have a little respect, you were probably just like us once.

Ha, I never said I was that old, and furthermore I didn't say it was the complete fault of younger drivers that there were less FD's around, are they a major contributor? Yes. Are they the sole contributor? No. I really think it comes down to how you treat the car, and whether or not you are overtly-confident. Money does play a big part though, thus restricting how well a younger person can pay for the car, and the mods.

I know someone that is 17 with an FD, he drives it like he should, within his limitations, he doesn't excessivley speed in areas he shouldn't and he doesn't beat on it like a slab of meat, he treats his car in a respectful manner while still enjoying it, and gets more familiar with it all the time.

The people I was referring to more fall into the category of this stereotype:

Idiot 1:OMG that car in the new superstreet is soooo COOL!
Idiot 2: Dude you should totally hit your parents up for one of those, I hear it even has twin turbo's holy crap! That means it has like twice the power!
Idiot 1: Man you are so totally right. I am going to talk to them about this right now. G2G TTYL!

(next week)

Idiot 1: DUDE THEY GOT IT FOR ME!!
Idiot 2: OMG'z I WiLL be RIGHt oVER!

(two hours later)

Idiot 1: Holy **** we passed that Civic so ******* fast, damned Honda boyeez wanting to be fast.
Idiot 2: Dude you are so right, we should go find some more Del Slows to mess with ROFL
Idiot 1: I dunno man I would rather smoke a 5.0L mustang LOLZ it will be hilarious.
Idiot 2: Dude once again you are so totally right.

(3 days later)

Idiot 1: Dude the car isn't fast enough I got beat by a Vette on the highway.
Idiot 2: ******* V8's man they suck so bad LOL 1.3 Liter powahhhhh!
Idiot 1: Dude you are so right the 7 can never losseeeeeee Lolz
Idiot 2: Dude I found this website that can make your ride sicker!!
Idiot 1: OMGZ link plz
Idiot 2: https://www.rx7club.com
Idiot 1: **** man that is way too much reading I need to know how to make my turbos more powerful
Idiot 2: Dude lolz up the booooosttt! Or get some NOS-> lolz
Idiot 1: I am going to post and ask for some help

(several minutes later)

Idiot 1: WTF why is everyone ******* yelling at me what a bunch of haterz.
Idiot 2: what did they say?
Idiot 1: They said to use the Search function and read the FAQs whatever the **** that means. They also called me a noob and a ricer i dont get it.
Idiot 2: damn wait here I found a link, okay it looks like you need to get a MP whatever the **** that is, a DP whatever the **** that is as well LoLz and an EBC also a catback with a big tip.
Idiot 1: Okay man I going to get my parents credit card TTYL

(several days later)

Idiot 1: Dude mazda's ******* suck
Idiot 2: whats wrong man where you been?
Idiot 1: dude i have been in the ******* county jail
Idiot 2: WTF? They found out about that 13 yr old chick?
Idiot 1: nah man I ******* did 140 on the highway and then I heard this weird sound like someone banging on a metal rail.
Idiot 2: weird wTF was it?
Idiot 1: Well I tried to figure it out by sticking my head out the window to see if it was coming from outside, and then i yanked the wheel by accident.
Idiot 2: **** what happened then!?
Idiot 1: I totalled the ******, mazda's suck I hate that car, I tried to start it after i hit the embankment and cartwheeled 3 times but I think i blew the motor
Idiot 2: damn man that ******* sucks
Idiot 1: Don't worry man it is cool my parents agreed to get me an STi because AWD is safer.
Idiot 2: Damn dude, you got lucky, glad it worked out for you in the end.
