What size is the altenator nut?

I tried to put on my Greddy pulley kit and I found out I don't have a socket big enough for the nut on the altenator. I'm thinking 15/16" or even 1". I don't know what the millimeter for that would be, any help would be appreciated.

If i remember correctly its a 15/16, that fits almost perfectly. I dunno if there is a metric one that fits but that what i remeber using. You will NEED an air gun for this, no way will you pull it off with your hands... make sure you get some slack on the belts through the air pump and the alternator. Youll find the Greddy belt will fit VERY snug when your tryin to put the new belt on, just make sure that the groves on the belt are int he right place for the pullies and your good to go. Hope this helps

Thanks, yes I know I can't do it by hand. I have access to an auto shop, so that's where I'm doing it. I just dont' have access to their tool room. I measured the nut with a tape measure, but I wasn't sure how close that'd be. I would have just gotten a 15/16 and a 1" if noone knew in the next few minutes. I'm going to be doing it tonight or tomorrow. Also, another question comes to mind... how do I keep the shaft from spinning? When I go to loosen the nut, won't the shaft just spin with it?
