I have the OEM, If somebody wants your car or to break into your car bad enough, they will. The stock system works more than fine IMO. I couldn't see an aftermaket alarm being anymore of a theft detterent + it just adds more weight.

Clifford Concept 600

Clifford (DEI) just came out with a new line of alarms. Generation 5 aka G5 series. Look into those.

what about the Clifford Matrix RS3 or the Viper 760xv? They both are the same 2 way direct pager alarms. You'll know if someone is trying to open your door, hood, trunk, banging on your car, etc.

What r you going to be able to do about it in most cases though.... And I would be willing to bet more than 50% of the time it's going to be a false alarm. Maybe it's just the area I live in that I could never see the car getting stolen from where I keep it.

You try living in the city where stuff gets stolen when you look the other way. I know couple people around the city that got their FD stolen somehow. Not trying to be stereotypical but latin people love FDs~

Plus those two systems tell you how bad the impact is. So if its someone parking his car and he bumps into you lightly it will tell you its a light bump. Instead of that annoying loud alarm going off it will send you a massage up to 1/4 mile. So I think its totally worth it. You can read up on them, they are known to tell the difference on theft/impact and false alarms.

wheeewwww, I guess my car is safe now, living in a predominately non-latin community... CRAP, I'm going to have to steal my own car!!!

Thieves come in all shapes and sizes and RACES.

Still, I like Clifford good alarms. The one on my Mustang Cobra (paid for not stolen) works great. I just don't like the large remotes that come with the paging features.

the EGI fuse.. great security system there.. full engine disabling effect.

But seriously, I have a Code Alarm alarm system on it, and it seems to work ok, but I had to bypass the starter disabler, because it wasn't re-enabling the starter.. stupid piece of crap..

a little off topic I dont want to make a whole new thread for this

since about a week ago every time I lock my car and come back and unlock it with the key the alarm goes off by itself. if I lock the door and then unlock it again it stops but tonight it took about 1 minute of playing with it to stop what is going on here?
I was told to take off the outside handle that something is loose in there?

Every security cannot resist the bad guy coz if they want your car, they can get it. So, IMO park safe.

As stated in my sig. I'm wiring an onboard computer for my FD. This will include rewiring some of the ignition, PFC, and the stereo (for which this project is initially for). I will start a thread on its progress later this week since I finally received all the parts necessary to start putting it in.

Point is, if someone really wants my car, they're going have to pull out the flatbed, and even then, my FD is going to give me a phone call with GPS coordinates

Edit: mispelled PFC

This is true however Clifford and Viper two way pager system offers a backup battery source as well which you can instruct the installer to put in anywhere you please. So you would still know what's happening to your car when the theives cut the power.

areXseven: I would prefer your alarm system but Kali doesn't allow for most of us to have it. Unless you're a politician or actor.

Sorry but some of these replies are just, well stupid. The race of people are not going to affect whether your car is stolen, the neighborhood will. You are confusing coincidences and past experiences. Anyhow, the pagers even smart pagers are crap. Please, you will run out to the parking lot and either watch your car drive away or see that it is missing already. Do you allways get your pages? what about bad reception in buildings? False sense of sercurity is what you are paying for!

An alarms only functions are to make noise and diable the vehicle. Some only make noise. That can be bypassed in mere seconds but cutting the horn wires. Everything else is luxary ...dome lights, parking lights, smart sensors. You are fooling yourselfs.

An aftermarket alarm does nothing more then the OEM other then add luxary accessories.

1. relocate the alarm brain
2. manual engine kill switch
3. theft recovery system

You should do your research before you reply to this thread, "Times Magazine" didn't give an award to some "no brainer" security system. I dont know about exact reception through buildings but the reviews said that its perfect for city, basement parking, mall marking, etc. So unless they were lying about the product which I highly doubt they would since they guarentee their functions. There is also something about an award of $50,000 from Clifford themselves if you weren't notified of your car being broken into with signal range which is a 1/4 mile.

The whole point of this system is so the alarms wont go off mindlessly annoying your neighbors, its to alert you privately. Also like I said there is an option for backup battery power so you will know what's happening even if somehow they cut your power without you being alerted.
