Question what is this on the oil pan?

What’s on the oil pan in the picture is it some type of sensor? Would this come new in a fresh rebuilt motor? The reason I ask is when I took it in to A-spec for a rebuilt motor my motor didn’t have it and when I got it back from A-spec it didn’t have it either so I thought it might just be a plug or something. Now the reason I took it to A-spec was because I didn’t know **** about rotary engines and to add to the BS A-spec charged me close to $7,000 witch was a surprise because they had only mentioned about $5,000 estimate. But I had to pay it to get my Fd out of there they had it for about six months. So at the end I don’t even know if I did get an actual rebuilt motor or just something they had laying around. The reason is they did such a BS job on the rebuilt that I had to pay another shop $2,200 to pass emissions because they forgot to replace some vacuum lines, missing bolts in different areas and also my ACV was bad. I cant remember what else they fucked up on but it was a lot more, keep in mind my FD was stock.

Like my picture? My motor, the one in the picture, only cost $1500 for the rebuild and another $400 for the port job. That's only $1900, plus I got my mounts and the oil pan brace from Banzai-Racing at the same time they did the build for just a couple bucks more. Granted, I shipped it to them and didn't have to pay any labor. What all did you get for that much money? I'm a little surprised to hear this about A-spec. From what I've seen on here they are the people I've been keeping in mind if I decide to go single at some point. I'm interested to hear a little more detail about this.

If your FD was stock, it had the sensor when you took it to 'A' Spec.

I remember seeing it on my stock engine with what looked to be a broken wire coming out of it. Would this sensor come on a rebuilt engine from mazda because thats all they intalled for the $7000.

Na bro it was just a ******* Mazda remand. Which involve removing my old engine disassemble and assemble the new Mazda remand and reinstall it on my Fd. But ask me if I would do that again **** no. Next time I will do all the work my self. Thanks god now I know enough to do it my self in the future. It was a cheap mistake wasn’t it in my part LOL.

No, the oil level sending unit doesnt come on a reman, your existing sensor would be swapped over, along with a lot of other parts.

Did they break open the motor to port it as well for that price? new engine wiring harness? I've done a lot of business with A Spec/Sean in the past and have always found him to be more than fair with me.

I've got no dog in this fight, I've never dealt with 'A' Spec....but how do you know that's all they did?

The thread started out as a "what is this" and ended up being a bitch session for how much it cost. You may or may not have a valid reason for it. I can't draw an opinion by what you've posted. But labor charges are a killer in terms of cost. The more you do yourself, the more you save.

Its a long story but at the end thats all they did a Mazda remand. Which involve removing my old engine disassemble and assemble the new Mazda remand and reinstall it on my Fd. O and I belive two new injectors. They used all my stock stuff wiring harness and all my stock parts. This took place about two years ago thoe. Where does this oil level sensor plug into?

If I remember correctly, it connects to a white-tipped wire that comes across the top of the motor from the main engine harness.

It's a white connector, oval shaped with two pins. It's not on the engine harness though, it's on the body wiring harness, the same harness that routes down by the starter and goes to the alternator. Look down below the spark plugs.
