What oil??

Hello all.

I dont own a RX-7, but a good friend of mine has just bought one, but is not online, so im asking on her behalf

What oil do you lot use?

Basically she bought some silkolene pro fully synth, as someone told her this would be ok, but now people are telling her that its not good for the rotory tips, and that mineral oil is the best, although she also knows someone that uses semi-synth.

So what do you lot think is the best type to use?

Thanks in advance

Dan

Please use the search function. I believe on average this question is asked very very frequently. Here's something to ponder over...

Why castrol GTX? Anyone seen the Q commercial.. where they claim that ferrari only uses q synthetic in their cars?

Oh, and if you have BNR stage 3's, you can't use synthetic due to the carbon seals... according to their website.

Wow, how old is that? I havn't seen that TSB yet. You can read what RotaryGod says for what its worth:

http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.ph...ghlight=recall

I will be using Royal Purple when my car is running again. I also premix 6oz of Idemetsu per tank of gas. For what it is worth, attached is the latest service bulletin bashing synthetics:

I've never seen TSBs brought into these debates either, but Mazda knows rotarys like Microsoft knows technology. They know how things should be in a perfect, controlled environment. The real world is completely different though.

IDK what to use in my rotary, there's so much conflicting information and no end to the arguments, I just advise you use the MobilecastrolGTPurple1 Mineralsynthetic premix motoroil for 24stroke engines and mopeds.
