What is a normal exhaust temp?

I was wondering what is a normal exhaust temperature running around 3000 rpm and what it should never get near before you start melting parts. Any ideas for you guys that have EGT's.

If you're constantly getting on it sure. Cruising you can see about 1200-1400 depending on your tune and how fast.

racerxrx7,

It's not really all that useful to compare EGT's to other cars as the placement of the probe plays a huge part of what readings you'll see. Not quite "apples to apples".

I get 4-500*C normal driving
7-800*C highway, or agressive driving

Probe is in the downpipe, I have a full exhaust (dp,mp) with Racing Beat duals.
