After i've done my research, i think you're right it should be HKS SSQV. but how can i adjust BOV to make a sound like that? some people said you should make it tighter so, the value won't open fully, making that flutter sound woo woo woo

I never understood why people like the "queef" sounding BOV's. I really don't care if my BOV makes a sound at all, but I think my Blitz makes a "pleasant" swoosh sound.

interesting, my friends Tial sounds nothing like that. but he has a massive turbo on his S13

BUT I have the HKS, and it sounds EXACTLY like that, as a matter of fact it's on my friends car right now and sounds the same. But then agian a BOV can sound different on different cars.

So whether its a HKS or a Tial, does mounting it in the stock position or on the intercooler change the sound?

Ther HKS SSQV noise is not adjusted by a screw, but rather by using one of 3 inserts. There are 2 three-fin inserts (one silver, one gold) which both mke the "queef" noise, and one purple which is an open ring in the center to create the "whoosh" noise. FYI I have all 3 inserts and have used them all, so I am telling you this from experience. Never heard a Tial but CrazyDane's BOV sounds identical to my HKS SSQV with a three-fin insert.

one more question. does HKS have 2 types of BOV for FD? HKS SSQV and HKS BOV (i guess it's a universal) well i got this info from rx7store.net. so, SSQV is the way to go right?

thanks

I have the hks ssqv with the gold insert and the gold insert sounds nothing like that. With the gold insert its a much higher shorter shrill sound which can be really annoying on the highway but all in all I like it better than the purple, never tried the silver fin though.

I agree I was under the impression the gold inserts were just for "visual appeal" and makes pretty much the same sound as the standard fin. I don't know about the silver insert which looks the same as the standard.

I've also noticed that the "queerf" sound only happens for me under low throttle and by letting off the throttle pedal very gently as oppose to lifting my foot off very rapidly which results in the high pitched trademark sound of the hks ssqv.

Can anyone verify this?
