Angry What the hell is mazda trying to pull with this one?

ok so i need to replace the fuel line that goes from the secondary and primary fuel rail and connects via that banjo bolt. so i go to the dealership to order this stuff and it starts to get confusing. what they have on they're parts sheet is different that what mine looks like. according to them it is a hose that connects with clips to that metal hardpiping. on my 7 the hose, the round compression clamps, and the metal parts are all one piece. So they are telling me i need to buy all these different parts because mazda has upgraded this part of the car. So i mentioned the fuel recall that they were supposed to have on this stuff and he said the would only cover labor charge but not parts. So they started giving me prices on this stuff. Well get this the hose alone was $157 . you gotta be kidding me! it can't be more than three inches of regular fuel hose that cost them about 75 cents to make. then that metal part that connects into the primary fuel rail had to be bought with the primary fuel rail so i didn't even want a price on that. Why would mazda make an "upgrade" for something that should have to be replaced sometime in the near future and then make you have to buy something else completely different that you didn't even need. I swear they "upgraded" this so when people needed to replace this part they would have to buy 3 seperate parts and then they could charge them for something they didn't even need such as a primary fuel rail. If they would have left this part whole thing would only come up as one part that you need to buy. where do they think they get off with this. Why should we have to pay and extra ~$500-$600 just to replace a hose becuase they think they've upgraded a part. anyways im just venting becuase i think this is incredibly stupid that i should have to pay about $500 just to replace a fuel hose. mazduh
if anyone has a better idea o how to replace this hose please tell me. Is there an aftermarket hose that connect right? Is there a fitting for new stainless steel lines that will connect into our fuel rails?

Get the fuel line recall kit. It replaces that hose as well as many others. It was ~80 from Ray @ Malloy. Don't buy from the local dealer unless you bring your vaseline.

Recall is a Recall.. it should have been done, ages ago, and to no cost to teh owner... since it's technically unsafe to drive without, or else they would have called it a technical service bulletin, not a recall..

The recall was already done on my car, but I have no idea when. Since I was in there doing a hose job and getting the injectors cleaned, it made sense to replace those hoses.

hey, it's me. just go to evco and have them make it for you. it will be ten times cheaper and will work great, just tell them it is a fuel line and they will hook you up. on a side note feel free to ask me any questions before you go to the damn dealer. the parts and tech guys aren't all that bright.

What he said, the fuel recall kit is CHEAP. It has all the hoses that connect to the fuel rails (3) includes all new clamps, UIM and ACV metal gaskets along with injector seals and the high pressure hose that feeds the fuel lines on the drivers side of the motor near the oil filter.

For the $70-80 you can't go wrong, don't bother with aftermarket, they probably don't use the same quality rubber that Mazda did. Remember, Mazda paid a lot of $$ in labor to do the recalls, they sure as hell didn't want another lawsuit based on the same parts.

Yep... the fuel kit to replace all of them. For $80 you can't beat it. Ray hooked it up.

the dealership said they would have to do the labor on the recall themselves. i said i rather just take the part and they said they wouldn't do it. I personally don't want those idiots anywhere near my rat's nest and vacuum lines. I think that part of the car is beyond the ability of these scam artists.
that idea about ray sounds good thanks for the tip.
