I really want to make sure I've covered everything before I turn the key. Thanks!

make sure you have oil in the engine

make sure your oil is topped and your coolant. once it's started, you're supposed to leave it running for around 15 min (if i remember correctly) before shutting it off. it'll smoke a lot, it'll just be burning off build grease -

check your fuel system for leaks (at the diag box loop 10 and grnd) this will also prime it
Burp your coolant system before starting it up...
check oil
check spark plug connections

good luck

I just started mine after priming the fuel to check for leaks. Didn't smoke much at all.

Amazingly enough, it started first time!! I need to adjust the idle, since it's not settling down to 700-800 RPM like usual. It's staying at about 2100.

Can someone give me a quick lesson on idle adjustment?

Huero, I don't think we've met since I don't know anyone else in LB with an Rx-7.

As a side note or for future reference, I usually disable fuel supply (EGI fuse) and crank the engine a few times to prime the engine with oil very well...just a precaution in case the builder (in my case, me) didn't use enough lube on the bearings. Or in case some sort of contaminant found it's way into one of the bearings at some point in time. IT can never hurt, and only takes 1 minute. Always check for fuel leaks (with system primed) before startup. Be prepared for some smoke, but out the exhaust from the internals, and externally from the peripherals and exhaust piping.
