RX-7 was dicsontinued in the US after the 95 model, which was just really the 94s that didnt sell. In japan the car is still made, under the name "efini"

kind of like the 3000GT was called a GTO in Japan, but on that one they changed the name b/c they didnt was a bunch of musclecar fans pissed off at them

Well no... Efini was the nameplate of the upper-market Mazdas... such as Lexus to Toyota... Efini nameplate was dropped after 98... and the RX-7 Is just sold under the Mazda Nameplate... from 93-98 it was the Efini RX-7... as the Turbo IIs here had the Efini Savannah GT-R and GT-X.

You can get them from Jason too. I think he has them for about $5 less too.

As far as I know, Amati was the name for the upper market Mazda's.

Efini was the name given to the third gen at its introduction in Japan. It means "inifity" in French.
The name Efini was never used in the U.S.

Not sure about Amati, but I have an official Mazda Windows wallpaper for 1998 which says efini RX-7. Too big to upload it to this post, though.

Amati was the name given to the upper model Mazda line intended for the US market. It was never officially used here because Mazda's sales went into the toilet. The Millenia was originally intended to be a Amati model. Amati was never used in Japan. Infini or Efini has always been used for high performance Mazdas in Japan (special turbo II FC, 323 gtx, etc). Efini is not a "high end line" like Lexus. In Japan, they don't use those names (Lexus IS300 = Toyota Altezza, Acura Integra = Honda Integra, etc).

It all seems very confusing. I would guess that Efini is the other name that Mazda is called in Japan. And I also have that RX-7 background that says Efini on it.

It's not confusing. Efini (Infini) is just the name given to high performance mazdas in Japan.
