HKS Twin Power ??'s

Looking for some feedback from owners out there. It seems the install will be a snap w/the FD specific harness, but how about results? Anything noticeable? Or will this just be another hi-ticket/lo-result item to lengthen my sig someday? I used one on an SW20 MR2 once, and it did make a difference, but only up at 18+ psi where the stock system was having problems maintaining.. I don't plan on anything near that for my FD.....yet. Just hoping this might help the 3krpm hiccup and provide a little crisper throttle response.. Anyways, any input you guys can give me is appreciated.

I don't have this system but what I've gathered from reading other people's experiences is this:

*stock car: you will notice little difference in normal driving, you'll likely have a slightly smoother, more powerful top end (above 6k or so)

*modded car: you will notice improvements in smoothness and power at high rpms.

*it will not remove your 3k hesitation

*it will not provide crisper throttle response in the lower and mid ranges.

The stock ignition system is very good except for the very high end of the engines range (for a stock car).

BTW, I also read that the stock ignition system is kind of a safety blanket for a modded car, in that the ignition lightly retards the combustion process at high rpms. If your car is running the ragged edge between detonation and max power, the HKS could put you over the top.

The HKS Twim Power is a good system though it does cost a lot it does seem to be a nice balance than the alternatives.

Instead of buying 3 MSD or CRANE you can go with the HKS TP. Also the TP is a capacitor and a transistor while the MSD and CRANE are only Capasitors. THE HKS was designed for constant power and sudden jolts of power. It is a great system and takes only a few minutes to install with the harness.

My HKS twin power fixed a rough idle for me. It also stopped a high rpm stutter. Never had the 3K hesitation, so I don't know. There was also this annoying "poof" everytime I would turn the car off, sorta like a mini backfire. That's gone too. If you have the stock ECU, then the car will still retard the timing if you have knock. The HKS twin power doesn't affect that. I guess in theory it should improve fuel economy too.

Thumbs up

T88RX7, is right, I do have the HKS Twin Power and it was definitely worth the money. It is extremely easy to install and you don't need to tune your car. If you buy this product make sure to get the harness for the unit. I put my car on the dyno and gained 25 RWHP from this unit along with the GReddy pulley set. I'm sure my hp would have been a little bit higher if it wasn't so hot out that day.

Any truth to people running lean(on modded vehicles) after installing this unit.
I have a high rpm misfire now and then that occurs 6500-7500 rpms but may be the plugs which are all 9s
I'm wondering if this unit would be the cure or if would gain any topend as I'm running 116 trap speeds now with stock ignition.

Yeah, I endorse the HKS Twin Power system too. Its probably the best thing out there for your money. I'd go with it from the start. It will give you smoother response and prevent high rpm breakup. You'll spend money to get it, but you'll get it back everytime you go for a ride.

My car makes that annoying "poof" sound too....so I guess I'm going to get me a twin power this weekend
