what does the silver piece that comes with apex intake do?

there is this round silver piece that goes in the acv hose, the one that is about 1 inch diameter and wraps around the back of the engine. with the intake comes this silver piece that you put in there that is likea restrictor, makes the inside of the hose only have like a 1/4 inch diameter, just wondering what this is for, thanks for all the help, and putting up with all my questions, scott

The peice is designed to reduce the noise from the air pump.

These are good posts. I'll have to remember where they are when my intake comes that I ordered in DEC. from the STORE.

Oooooh, so that's the piece I didn't get.. figures, no wonder my air pump is so loud. Any ideas where I can pick one up, or an easy way to fabricate one? This is a contributing factor as to why I was going to a cold intake...

just to make sure, the silver thing does not go in the hose actually connecting to the smog pump correct. i looked over the instructions and saw that it didnt, but i still get that dying giraffe noise.

Round Silver Thingie

Mine also came with that round cylinder thing, but I didn't put it on because my air pump was removed when I installed the Greddy pulley kit.

For the person that's missing that round thing, pay shipping and I'll mail mine to ya.
