I'm a helicoptor flight mechanic for the US coast Guard. 21 years old out having the time of my life. Got my FD about 6 or 7 months ago. So far have only added a dp, boost guage, and a turbo timer. The car at kd right now getting a street port and all that fun stuff. mY Advice to some of these youger fellas who work 3 or 4 jobs, get an education and get a good job first, then worry bout your toys afterwards. Don't just work your *** off to support your car. Try and get ahead. Thats my little 2 cents.

I'm an ERP software consultant. I've got about 8K in mods that are either on the car or that I'm trying to find time to put on. My suggestion is to find a job that very few people can do. (Like ERP work) Learn the trade and then go independent. The company that I use to work for charged customers $210.00 per hour for my work and paid me about $23.00 per hour. Now that I'm an independent consultant I change 1/2 what they did and I've got plenty of money to spend on my car. You also get to say things like "My current customer owes me about $27,000 and I sure hope they don't go bankrupt!"

I am the asst. GM for aramark at the first union spectrum. (right now tht is my location...i have been in almost every stadium and arena in the area) i am 25 as of 12/30/01 and have owned an fd AND a daily driver for about 6 or 7 years now. like it was said already....manage your money. dont just go buy everything you see. and my theory is "buy it cash", thats what i always do, even with my cars. (not my first one though) another thing to do is INVEST. and the best advice i have seen given yet, go get a career not just a job. eveything will fall into place for you. i just took a big pay cut about 2 years ago to "start" mine. i was making about $18k more each year tax free, but i cant live like that. and this has MANY benifits and room for advancement. i have already started to move up.

I was a Superviser of layout and production for the largest sign co. around. It is union so I was making $24 per hr. usually about 50+hrs. per week. I started when I was 19 in the business and left when I was 27 making about $75k a yr. which was 3yrs. ago. I made ALOT of money during the 8yrs. so I invested it in a Performance Co. and some other places that made even more money. Now I just party and have fun with life (can't tow a u-haul behind you when you die). I've put about $20k into my FD in the last year and it's still not done. You also can't look past the other things in life. We put alot of money down on our house and we pay for everything in cash....if it's CC then we use a low interest card and keep the balance for a little while to build credit. The only bills that we have are Mortgage and insur. and misc. household.
Take your time and do it at your own pace...don't rush it. I see people everyday come in and drop a CC knowing damn well that they can't really afford it.

Im a student, Senior in Electrical Engineering. I am glad I enjoy this major, becuase I hope to make a healthy salary to pay for my dream parts for my FD. I traded my old car plus $$$ for the FD, and I have been scraping money together since to buy new parts. I even started selling things from hobbies I no longer do. And I am getting ready to try to sell my old 'project car'. It is a 1973 Vw Beetle I rebuilt the engine from the crank shaft up to make it more of a racer (big bore cylinders, counter weighted crank shaft, balanced connecting rods, ignition management system...etc) , and now it is time to sell it to get $$$ for the FD!

I'm a semi-retired engineer on social security with time on my hands. I've always wanted to tinker with a 3rd gen and got my chance this fall with a basket case. I will probably spend more money getting it back to near stock in good running condition than it is worth. But, that is the risk and the fun of it too.

I'm 38 years old and my mother's money bought my 93 touring model. What was I supposed to do, send the inheritance to the government since I didn't work to earn it? Mom didn't do that when she got hers from grandfather.
Oh wait, that wasn't the question. I was in ROTC when I bought the car, finished my third stint in the Army and now I work as an engineer for Raytheon.

I bought my FD about 3 years ago when I was a co-op working for Merck. I am now a Development Scientist and can pretty much afford any upgrades I want. Remember a good education will pay off - in time. In my case like 8 yrs. Keep studing.

Well, I work in the kitchen of a nursing home, getting the food ready, taking it out in carts for the nurses to pass out, then doing dishes . I got my rx-7 by building and selling 2 other cars. After I received it, I had to repair about $1500 worth of stuff to pass inspection . I cashed in $5,500 worth of savings bonds that I've saved since I was born to pay for the repairs and get some upgrades which include veilside body kit (still on it's way), apr r-spec wing, apex-i intake, apex-i cat back n1 exhaust, apex-i avc-r, apex-i power fc with commander, and hks downpipe. Now i need to save up for some mods and maybe fix up some other cars to make some cash. I think I'm up to about 300hp at the wheels , now I just need to upgrade my stock 2mm seals so i can get my boost higher .

I'm 57, 2 children, 8 grandchildren, been an air traffic controller at Atlanta Center since 1975, before most of you were born. Wouldn't have gotten the job without a degree... go to school if you can, in fact, even if you can't. Wife is author and makes royalty $$. My car helps me get access to young people at church and is a blast to drive. I got it in '97 and have about 10K$$ in it, almost all by Pettit Racing in Florida and then because the engine blew. Daily driver, to and from work, 40 miles round trip, but fun every mile. Just got it back from repairing deer strike damage ($4500 by State Farm) so the Front End looks new, the rear is pink. All this to say your time will come if you do the right things now, as a young person. Education, education, education, and it doesn't all have to be in school. Learn from others, be humble, get a plan, work for it, and remember eternal things, ALL RX-7's will someday be rust buckets. Ugh, but it's true. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying mine to the hilt!

I live at my parents so it was the right time to buy the car of my dreams.
I work as a Network Administrator and It Specialist.
I took a 20,000$/4years loan at bank and pay 500$ a month for the Seven so it's not that bad !
I also bought an old Mazda 626 1989 for winter (I live in Montreal, Canada).
Have a good one !

That's the Magnification that I can look at things at work. Though I mostly look at "stuff" at the 1000X to 10KX scale. Here are a few of my smaller tools.
