At what coolant temp do you panic?
so some of you people are using a/c and still maintain low temps in hot weather?
i thought using the a/c in the summer actually raises the temp?
thats why i been sweating my ***** off this past couple of weeks due to that..

I hit 109 today (miami, Fl) on the PFC in stop and go traffic. I was also running the a/c. Running the stock coolant system except for upgraded cap and Pettit AST. So far no problems with 90K+ original miles
I've always wondered this, and it seems topical with the direction this thread has taken...
What is the main reason that water temps are higher with the A/C on? Is it because of the extra load on the engine or because the condensor gets hot and therefore you're pulling pre-heated air through the rad? Or both?
How about relocating the condensor and having a FMC (front-mount condensor)?
You could even add fans to pull air at a stop.
For the original thread:
I have a FMIC, CWest front-end, radiator mounted in stock location with undertray, and I will creep up to 100C in stop-and-go without the A/C. On the highway I ususally see 88C.

Any car will run hotter with the AC on because of the extra load. The only reason a car would not run hotter would be if the fans were triggered to come on sooner with the AC on (like on the FD).
Normal cruising temp is 80C so says the HKS gauges. I've never seen it spike higher then 92C
Edit- this is with a/c removed, no power accessories or anything else in there to make the engine work harder then it has too.

Damn, I feel like an ***, for some reason my car usually runs at 178-180F. I start to panic at 190F!!! So far this summer we've had most days in the mid to low 90s. Ive been keeping my fans on the whole time. Paranoid? Absolutely!
EDIT: I removed the Air pump and AC.

^^i do all the time
this past couple of weeks, some of those days hit 90 and i've been sweating my *** off in the car, had the fans on constantly..
im wondering if i should just use the a/c since the fans are on anyway, why kill myself?
but if not using the a/c will drop a couple of degrees on the temp, then i rather sweat a bit

The condensor does get quite hot when the a/c is on(therefore blowing hot air into your radiator), and when you are just sitting there all the hot air is trapped and underhood temps rise quickly.
I would recommend a vented hood for stop and go city type driving. Maybe a cooling system flush and some "Redline water wetter".
