What connects here? Turbos

I am swapping my old 99 twins w 93 ones, and I can't figure out what connects to the middle hole in the pics. The 99s don't have that hole, and I couldn't figure it out based on the FSM.
Thanks!

99s died after 80k miles, not a bad run. The oil and water feed lines go around that hole (top and bottom holes).

It looks like it might just be something holding the turbos in place. It looks like there is a hexagon instead of thread for a bolt.

If you're talking about that hex plug in the center section of the turbos, that's just a casting plug. Nothing to see here, move on . That's part of how they cast the part, they have to have a hole to get the sand out from the inside, then they just tap and plug the hole.

The center sections all just have 4 holes - oil in, oil out, coolant in, coolant out. That's it.
