Reuse, downpipe, studs/nuts

Hello everyone.

Taking my stock downpipe (JDM) of to get some more room. Will soon reinstall it again. When I removed the nuts the studs came with them.

Is it possible to reuse the stud/nut assembly as a bolt and torque it to specification?

From some searching I understand that new bolts should be OEM due to the extreme temperatures, just any bolts wont do.

When installing new studs, what torque to use?

Thanks in advance!

Throw the old ones in the trash and buy new OEM studs. Pineapple Racing sells some nice cheap copper lock nuts. Torque specs can all be found in FSM.

I can find the torque specs for the nuts, but not the studs.

Search on my user name, those lock nuts are also available from clipsandfasteners.com for a VERY reasonable price.

atpturbo.com has some nice turbo studs that I've had good luck with for a good price.

Ok, the,
clipsandfasteners.com nuts
nuts seems to be the way to go.

Would these studs work:
clipsandfasteners.com studs
Seems to be stock sized.

Would be nice to order studs and nuts from the same store so there will be only one over-seas freight cost.

Btw, called Mazda, ~30$ per stud...

Another, bit more pricey, "one-freight option" being
atp studs
and
atp nuts

I assume that is the studs Dale is talking about.

use a thread chaser before reinstalling to make sure you get proper torque spec.

using some anti-seize or locktite will also help.

you're lucky.... not many people get away as easy you did... some have broken the bolts/studs when messing with anything on/around the turbos

Had only removed three bolts/studs when I wrote that, fourth one snapped at the turbo...

Thanks for the advice.
