mine does that but only for like a second or two...then drops to it's normal 725-750. If the AC is on and fans blowing at 3 speed, it sometimes sticks at 2k or 1.5k then drops to it's normal 1.1k

Does the idle ever go down, like after the car has been driven for 10 minutes?

Is the car stock?

I'm not quite sure but I think the temporary increase in idle is used for emissions. When the engine is not yet warm, it produces large amount of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide therefore the higher idle heats up the catalyst to more efficiently oxidize the gases or something to that effect - but don't quote me on it.

If your idle is high when the car is fully warmed up, you probably have an intake leak. The stock LIM gasket is paper and is prone to failure. Replacing LIM gasket is very labor intensive as you have to take off the turbos to get the LIM off. YOu could have a leak in the intake path somewhere but LIM is a very popular problem.

If you have 2 idles, it's most likely the intake leak. It usually idles at 1.1-1.5k when in neutral and ~900 when in gear. It's not a big deal as long as you aren't stalling. Eventually the leak will get worse so you'll have to fix it. However, you probably won't pass smog due to high idle. That's when I fixed it.

There's a lot of things that could cause high idle..

On my car tho, i had a few broken vacuum hoses.. so u might wanna check out under the uim and check out all the hoses.. might wanna change some of em with silicone as well..

Warm the car up so it goes to a steady rpm (I think you said it stops around 1100) and then adjust the idle screw. See if you are getting good vacuum and the car won't die at around 750-800 rpms.

It's it's fine, then your set. If the car begins to die at the lower idle or your vacuum isn't in a good range then you could have a leak.

Lightbulb

If you have a Power FC, go to the settings screen, then the idle/rev screen. Lower the idle in the appropriate setting--no electrical load , electrical load, or with air conditioning.

Can you list the mods you have or what you have done to the car so far?

It's ok to drive the car on the stock computer as long as you keep the boost at or around stock levels.
