weird issue...boost escaping?

hey guys

i have a weird issue...

i been driving my car around for a while now and got through the break in so i started pushing it a lil bit

but when i get to were the secondary turbo kicks in (around 4-5k) i can hear all the boost escaping and the car never pushes more than about 7-8 psi of boost

i know i have to replace of the turbo control solenoids (the one that sits on that emissions thing that the air pump hose goes to thats attached to the inside of the LIM)

but i dont think that has anything to do with it...what my first thought was is that the BOV i have on there needs to be adjusted because it is a large amount of air escaping i can hear it very clearly from inside the car over the free flowing exhaust and everything so its not just a little leak...but i got this BOV from someone who had it on an FD, so i'll try adjusting but does anyone have any other ideas?

Are you using the stock solenoids to control boost? If so, do you have the boost pills in the lines?

Check the o-ring on the rear section of the Y-pipe. It could be ripped or cracked.

Are you getting a full 10 PSI from 3000 to 4500 RPM?

Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda (virginia I think) is the man for OEM FD parts, great prices, great service, and I swear he can read your mind when it comes to what parts you need.

Maybe I'm a little overzealous about it but in most cases buying the oem parts are worth getting even if they're more expensive. Cutting a few dollars here and there comes back later when you're pulling your hair out from trying to take monetary shortcuts. you should be able to get away with an oring, but I don't like to take chances on a sub $10 part.

Check the niple on the Y pipe where the factory BOV was attached. I was hearing a substantial boost leak inside the car and not getting more then 7 psi and the cap I had on that nipple had cracked.
