I'm pretty sure he saves weight with the Wilwood setup, to add another thing to the list.

You people and your "lightweight" C/F hoods...you're not saving more than a couple pounds from the stock hood. Also, the rotor housing ARE aluminum aren't they? It's the end plates that are iron.

pettit has a cf trunk lid that weights 8.5 lbs w/o the glass

they said a stock trunk lid weights about 70 lbs w/glass
they said the glass weights about 20 lbs
I dont know if the rear wiper motor is counted or not.

I wouldn't be surprised Eric, if you were close to that. Removing all the rear subframe components, and replacing it with the equipment that you did probably saved quite a bit. You guys all know how much stuff is in the rear of these cars. If it was replaced by just an axle and a light four link.......

I have two large rubbermaid containers with my A/C, P/S, Air pump, all emissions, ABS, extra wiring, and other junk, and it weighs well over 150lbs. I also got rid of the actual power rack, which was another 5lbs or so. I haven't gotten to the rear yet,(spare tire, rear canister, etc.etc....not the solid rear but all this little stuff added up very quickly, and I wasn't that serious about it.

You guys just don't realize what his car is about.

If it doesn't make it go faster down the 1/4, or needed to make the function...(the battery, a seat ), it is out.

it seem to me when I read this

weighed my car at the track, with half tank of gas and spare in there, and a bunch of **** in there my car weighed in at 2650lbs without me in it. as far as weight loss is concerned, not much really, carbon fibre hood..

you were saying the only weight improvement you did was the hood. My car weighed 2712 and that is with the exhaust upgrade, spare tire out of car, rear divider panel and cargo cover out, I Lose a good 60-70 just from the exhaust. I can see where chrono's point is.

Im sure you upgraded your exhaust and lost some weight and im sure the scale was off.

I weighed my 93 Base on a highway "self weigh" scale (in kg) and it converted to 2800 lbs plus or minus with 3/4 tank of gas (subtracted my weight and my cargo as I was on my way to the coast). Gone - cats, air pump, stock IC and most plastic under protectors (undertray still there of course). Added - PFS intercooler and cold air intake/filter, stock rear wing, RE Amiyama body side skirts and front chin spoiler (older version - I notice the newer ones advertised are different), stock strut tower brace (which is heavy). Had the Bose system in place when weighed (gone now), and stock cruise.

This is a Canadian car, so the option packages were different than the US cars. That's why it has cruise. No sunroof or rear wiper. Bose was installed by a previous owner so he could sell it without his "killer audio system". Hackers!

I did upgrade my exhaust, i have a catless downpipe however i still have the stock midpipe that was hollowed out (not sure how well since i didnt do it) and a pettit catback, im sure that dropped a little weight. I see your point zerobanger but i never said the hood held any significant weight reduction, its the only one I could think of off the top of my head which is why i listed it. And i doubt the scale was off, it was at moroso and their scale is held to be pretty accurate as far as weight goes as they use it to regulate rules etc.

btw went to get some taco bell today and wasted a z06 along the way...

Is it possible that the 4 link rear ripped right off the car since you removed the entire rear subFRAME? That rear subframe is an integral part of the car's structure. Mounting the links to the car body isn't really sound engineering.

2660lbs, that is pretty much what a stock base weighs without any gas right?

Jeff

In the other thread, he posted a 12.4@119 mph.....I'm not sure what the point of ruining the car to be drag only and then only running 10 psi on a T51 is.....

If anyone knows, I figured it would be you Jeff! However, I think the stock base FD is about 2780lbs with 1/4 tank of gas or something like that...anyways, I don't think it weighs 2660lbs, I could be wrong though.
