My 94 rx7 with a 1/4 tank of gas and no spare tire weighed 2712 lbs. At the same scale right after a 2002 Fat Pig Trans Am weighed 3550, so I know its accurate.

without the ps, air pump, ac stuffs and a lighter catback I can 2630 or so, I cant imagine less than that.

I really don't think Mazda COULD do any more stripping to the car and actually keep people interested in buying it.

Ther only other things they could have removed at the factory (Any stayed within safety specs) is **** like sound proofing... Not really much else they could have lightened up, except for the removal of al the comfort devices as have already been stated...

I'm confused. Which car is yours, the red one or the blue one (or both)(or repainted)?

Yeah.....I mean, I've weighed my car several times and each time it is between 2880 and 2900 lbs.
Even taking away the added weight for the auto tranny....I dunno....

What sound proofing? There is none inside the doors, only the carpet padding on the floor and nothing under the headliner, at least on my 93. I think there may have been a pair of ear plugs available as an option, but eliminating them would only remove about 1/2 an ounce.

Just go get the car weighed at a scale that's certified and prove everyone in here wrong. What exactly is the 8.8 rear end thing anyways?

That's exactly what I was getting at. Someone said that Mazda could have done much more lightenening at the factory. I was stating that there wasn't really anywhere else to lighten the car. I mean, of course you could have used carbon fiber everything... But I doubt that would have been considered by the budget committee... LOL

The stock rear end and subframe was removed and replaced with a custom Ford Mustang 8.8 rear end. Solid Axle....... Take a look at my pictures and you'll see.

Nice weigh in there with the FD. For there stock weights the base and R1/R2 where 2,600lbs and the touring ed. was 2,800lbs bc of the sun roof and things like that.

Hardly. R1/R2 models were 2800 lbs. The full Touring model was ~2850 w/manual. Base models were like 2780 lbs.

Resource, there's no way your car can weigh under 2400 lbs with full interior and stock body. Stop looking at the inaccurate scales you're using and THINK. You'll realize there is no way for your car to really be that light. Changing out the exhaust, stock twins, A/C, PS, ABS, and rear end does not remove 400 lbs.

How about going to ANY scale and bringing along a stock base FD with you. Weigh the two cars and see the difference, doesn't matter how accurate the scale is to real weight because all you're looking at is the difference between them.
