Wastegate pill thing
Wastegate pill thing
Ok so I've been tring to fix my boost leak for almost a month (checked all hoses, installed efini y-pipe), so I had no primary boost untill today when I replaced the c- clip on the actuator rod. And now I'm getting boost
but only 6 psi at WOT
. So I read up on pills in the wastegate, and pre turbo control actuator hoses so I opened them up and the wastegate hose does'nt have a pill and the pre control does. How do you think the pill just dissapears? Is this most likely the problem, and how should I fix it?
wastegate actuator and hose w/ no pill

Precontol hose with pill

Please delete my last thread (stupid computer)

You're on the right track, as long as there is no boost controller being used besides the stock wg solenod.
It's not hard to buy a used wg pill for a few dollars.
The size of the stock pills are on www.fd3s.net so if you can buy the same size carb jet instead if you'd prefer.
Before buying anything though, I'd make sure there is no orifice built into the nipple on the turbos. If you can easily run a paper clip wire through that nipple, then you should buy a pill.

If your car is stock, the stock wastegate pill will be fine. If your car has been modified, and has a stock ecu, you may overboost with a stock pill. What mods (if any) have you done besides the y-pipe?

Rather than installing a pill, I suggest that you install a needle valve boost controller. That way you can set the boost where you want. You can make one for less than $10.

Leave your prespool line stock. Do not install a valve on the prespool line!!!!

That's pushing the limits of stock injectors further than I would go. To be safe, 12psi is what I would run a chipped ECU regardless of what boost it says it supports.
But installing a boost controller (manual or electronic) is another really good option.
