Walbro 255 pump

Is anyone out there running a Walbro 255 pump intank? How much power are you making? Any problems? Getting ready to put one in (the motor will make around 430 to the wheels) just making sure it will supply enough fuel...

Thanks

I wouldn't run any other fuel pump in my modified cars. I have no idea how much they're good up to... if you're concerned you can run 2.

I've owned a lot of cars and never had any problems with the 255lph. What injectors are you running?

pump

I know on a piston motor these pumps are good for around 650 flywheel power but a rotary burns more fuel so I am not sure what max power on a rotary will be (my car will make around 480 at the flywheel)... what is the HP at the wheels your cars with that pump make?

thanks

A couple of things to think about;

The Walboro's do not take well to being run with out fuel flowing through them. Fuel is the lubricant for the assembly, running it dry will cause it to fail prematurely. The Walboro's are cooled by fuel, as well. You don't want to keep your tank on a low level consistently. This will cause the pump to run hotter. As well as all the other reason you shouldn't run your tank below 1/2 to 1/4.

They have gotten a bad wrap in this community. Mostly because when a pump would fail at high boost they would lose there engine as well. All Vipers have a Walboro 255 stock from the factory. I think that if Dodge trusts them in the flagship car then why wouldn't they be good for the 7.

Just my $.02

Do a search, there are a lot of threads about the various fuel pumps.

I have no idea what i'm putting down (hp-wise). Got few more mods to do before I even think about a tune.

My butt dyno says around 300hp....

^agreed..

In japan they always use the Nippon Denso pumps off of the R33 GTR or the MK4 supra

i've had 2 walbro's 1 in my FC and 1 in my FD

they've been pretty crappy actually

the pump hated to idle.. if the car idled a long time the pump started makin weird sounds like an ambulance siren almost.. woooow wooow wooow woow.. sometimes changing pitch.. and the car would want to go off..

rev it up and drive it.. the pump becomes ok again..

similar thing has started on my FD as well.. but the sound is much quieter.. again has started when idling for long time... ok when driving..

both fuel pumps were bought new
