and Mike, you are the one talking about supposedly immature drivers, when you are the one bragging about how you reach 100+ MPH speeds daily in your FD.

I Lived in Miami for 15 years, and it is very unfortunante that I need to return, but let me tell you, that I know for a fact that a VERY large majority, I would have to personally say over 90%, of the teenee bopper miami drivers are EXTREMELY irresponsible, and I have PLENTY of friends still living in Miami to back my statement.
Yeah, I admit it. I was an irresponsible teenager in Miami, and I can tell you a million reasons as to why. It didn't take me long to finally realize what an idiot I was, and then I realized that the same goes for everyone else. There is simply TOO much influence in Miami to get yourself in trouble. Not only from peers in school, but also from most of the parents. I call it "Stupid people breeding" It is a different mentality down there. COMPLETLY different from how parents are up here. Society in Miami is just plain FUCKED. Let me not get into how someone I knew in highschool wrapped his 5.0 around a tree. Let me not get into of how someone that someone else I know wrapped his vette around a corrolla full of other kids. Oh, this kid was 15 and his father gave him his vette. Let me not also get into how a friend of another friends slammed his civic into a brickwall killing everyone on board but himself just because he was trying to beat the yellow light. Let me not even mention of how, Let me not mention of how a friend of a friend of a friend killed his girlfriend eating **** drag racing in the middle of a busy intersection.
I'm not going to get into the middle of this. There a bunch of reasons why Miami was rated as the #1 city to NOT to visit. Fortunately, I will be living in an area rather far from most of the mess.
I'm just going to finish by saying that I know how Miami is, and I know how people are in Miami. A 16 year old in miami with an FD is NOT likely to be a good thing at all. My stepbrother is now 17 in Miami. Since he turned 13, I have DRILLED it in his head of what to do and when. It's cool to show off but not to show off and make a fool out of yourself. We all like to show off at times, and even me, but hey, I taught him that there is a right place and a wrong place for everything. Sure, I like to race, but I only make sure I race in an area that poses as LITTLE threat to no threat to others, and one thing you never EVER do is race or simply haul *** like an idiot in traffic or in a densly populated area. I took the time to teach my step-bro how when to act and how not to act. I'm not saying I drive in a God-like manner, but at least I have enough commonsense to know when to do what.
Now bite me

and as far as you young guys in miami go, remember, that in my reply, I NEVER said that all teenagers in Miami don't know how to drive
My best friend's brother is one perfect example. He was raised by a family that lived in Germany. His brother has driven on the Autobaun, I have also driven with them on the Autobaun, and his parents both received their driver's licenses in Germany, his father was a race car driver, his uncle builds mild 700hp Porsches in Germany for a living, and over 1/2 of their family still lives in Germany. He's 20 now, but when he was 16, he showed driving skills that surpassed almost everyone that was on the road in miami. Why? Because the positive influence was there.

there were actually two F50s in Hillsborough that i know of. one i did not not mention, since the guy graduated last year, and is currently 19 (hence, it doesnt really belong in a conversation about "immature" 16 year olds
). but the other one is owned by the CEO of Cisco Systems, and his son is currently a sophmore. since his dad collects Ferraris, he has been seen rollin in a few of them, including the F50. i havnt seen him driving thier new Pagani Zonda C12S yet, but im assuming its not gonna be too long.
i dont know about the Korean girl you are talking about though.
ahhh....gotta love those damn Hillsborough kids!

im talking about you guys' reactions.
i know about 16 year olds that drive cars that will absolutely rip a stock or even moderately modded FD a new *******. im talking about Vipers, 3.2 liter NSXs, 10 second F-Bodies, Porsche 911, McLeran F1 (his dad's), Ferrari 355, 360, and F50 (once again, his dad's. he is a Ferrari collector and owns a little mom 'n pop computer company named Cisco Systems)...all driven by 16 year olds. not one accident by any of them.
i have said it numerous times before, and i will say it again: fast cars do not kill people....irresponsible drivers kill people.

), you could get it insanely fast for less money, you dont need to do "reliability mods"...etc. etc. i still love the FD, as it still holds a place in my heart. devoting almost 2 years of love and research for the car is hard to let go, but after seeing all the FDs for sale being complete pieces of garbage, i just had to move on.
so the journey now continues. this time for a MKIV TT 6-speed black/black or black/tan. but if i stumble upon a clean FD in good condition, i just might go back to my first love
. but so far, all the Supras i have seen are in MUCH, MUCH better condition then even the cleanest of FDs.
Just cuz your 16 doesnt mean your a bad driver, but acidents are more common with younger people. Its a fact, get over it. Dont become a statistic
Once you got that down, you'll pick your street battles wisely without peer pressure.
My 2 cents:
young drivers are inexperienced and will get into an accident. Now if a parent wants to spoil their kid fine, teach them nothing about money, great idea! But the kids who work to afford what they buy is another story. They will most likely crash their car (due to traffic these days) but at least theyll know what its like to loose something. I can vouch for this because Im 19, went to school with kids who drove bmws, lexus, mercs, you name it and I worked my butt off for my del sol. now Im getting an fd. And yes I did crash my first car =] So in short, its not some much the kids but it will be sad to see the fd go into the junk pile when he turns 16 and flips it. =[
Good Luck to him.....

Come to think of it, years behind the wheel may not be the best indicator of experience or safety.
However, I know that most ppl at 15 or 16 has little or no experience w/ driving are prone to accidents. That's basic fact and statistics.
I also know that just about every FD owner has had a close call in the first few years of ownership due to the fact that it's a fast car. This is regardless of age and experience. I drive turtlespeed most of the time but I've still gotten a few close calls.
The combination of the two factors don't encourage safety. That's all I have to say about that. Parents buying their son/daughter a high performance sports car are just not thinking clearly. Borrowing parents' sportscar once in a while is one thing, buying one as the primary car for a 16 yr old is another.

Damn, wish the newb drivers would listen to those who've been there, but I guess you'll have to learn the hard way like generations before, IF you survive your own arrogance and self-assessed skill, especially with an unforgiving car like the FD.
