Spoke to Clunkers and Blueberry Farms and they're both very tired but said VIR is an amazing track. They're still feeling their way out there but will have some good data to report on their Comp BBK by the end of the weekend

What an awesome weekend but it ended with Brent t-boning me in T14 (the vid will be a big hit on youtube both literally and figuratively hehe) which totaled my beloved track car but rubbing is racing and like my daddy always says I'm sure it was meant for the best

I'll post up all the details etc.... in my track video thread as time permits.

Dan and John have some great pictures and they graciously let me use their data aquisition software so for the 1st time I'll have some data to go along with a video. I also ran a 2.03 (best lap time to date) so I'm looking forward to watching the video once John and Dan put it together. Thanks again guys, it was nice meeting you two.

Dan is a fast learner and did a wonderful job for his 1st time at VIR. Great drving man and I had a blast navigating

Yep, I was coming off the back straight and made a boneheaded move and hit Fritz. Not the way I was hoping the weekend would go. Again, I'm extremely sorry Fritz.

Fritz,

Glad to hear you're OK!

Time to step-up to a purpose built race-car with a rotary, other than the Star Mazda series, still the shape of the FD, and under 1,800-lbs!

Worth a call, esp. since you may have a MONSTER engine in the wings . . .

WTF?? I leave and then this happens? Glad everyone is okay. Time for a 3 rotor Fritz. Can't imagine what you'd do with one as you were the fastest guy out there (followed by Brent) that we hand timed.

I had a great time and will post up some pics and videos soon. Have to work the next few days so I'll see what I can do.

Fritz and Brent, thanks for all of the help and advice. Dan and John, good hanging out with you guys. Very excellent driving skills for sure. Jonathan, hell of a first track event wasn't it? Jonathan wins the award for being the ballsiest guy out there given the condition of his FD. Fritz wins the all out "get out of my way as I'm crazy, I will beat you Corvette guy" award. All the other cars and the "ADIOS" Corvette succumbed to his superior driving skills

ouch! these things do happen unfortunately. I respect the fact that you arnt hesitant at all to pick up and rebuild.

Ive had similar tranny issues before. When racing in hot weather, the tranny becomes extremely difficult to change gear. Especially going into 1st. What cooler are you planning on using?

Holy F*ck, I knew it was coming and it still scared me. First, glad you two aren't hurt and there are no hard feelings- **** happens and toys can be replaced. That was quite a nasty impact and it looks like the halo seat really did it's job. Sorry to hear about the car I guess it's time to buy that 6GT3 or break out the Cayman.

Brent, do you have a vid of the impact, how's your car?

Based on the damage, I think my driver's side front wheel area hit vicinity of Fritz's passenger side rear wheel area. I'm pretty sure my driver's side frame rail is bent as well.

Car is putting down low 300's to the wheels. Fritz and I have about the same top speed at the end of the straights. We are both in the high 140mph range at the end of the back straight, I just had at least 100ftlbs more of torque and a tiny little quartermaster clutch.

Unfortunately I don't. I was having video issues all weekend. I lost all my video from Saturday on Saturday night as it was internal memory on the camera instead of memory card, and some how they disappeared/deleted. We had actually watched one on my camera when we were at the track Saturday night, but when we got back to the hotel and tried to connect the camera to the tv, the videos were gone. I adjusted the setting the best I remembered for the traqmate.

On Sunday, I had it ran through the traqmate(which should automatically turn the camera on) and when I checked the camera last night when I got home, there are no videos so it never started recording.

If I could find one for 15k I'd consider it for sure.

Right rear tire the perfect place to bend the car and not just crunch a corner , I was right on the apex at t14 when Brent loss control while braking skated through the grass and POW!!!!

If you let this sort of thing bother you then you won't last long at this sport. I have no idea about the trans cooler I'll let some engineer (like John wink wink) or a race shop figure that out.

Yep it was a pretty nasty shot and not something you ever get used to but we both know I've seen worse

The cayman is up to bat next but you know how I feel about these FDs so hopefully something will come along soon

Fritz & Brent,

Thanks for the hospitality and for showing us a great weekend! I had a great time and I absolutely LOVE VIR!! Brent's trailer was a nice spot to hang out and take a nap I can't wait to come back next year... hopefully with both of you again in new and improved FD's

That was a terrible way to end an otherwise excellent weekend, but fortunately no one was hurt. The cars can and will be replaced!

Brent,

Thanks again for all your help as an instructor. I was completely lost when I went out for my first session, but with your help I really pulled it together by the end of the weekend. I know where my weaknesses are and I will be working on them for next time!

Here are a few final shots to remember Fritz's car by:

Rotary guys shut down that BBQ! Thanks for the Jameson Dave!

I have a few of Brent's car as well that I need to go through and upload.

Damn guys,
It was so sad to see this. You guys are both great drivers and as Fritz said; "great spooners". Glad your both ok. 10/10ths is what was happening. Great driving on both sides. Good news is, I have another bottle of Jameson. Looking for Trackdaze in June. Kathy is now an official track junkie. I may have to squash NASA @ Summit. Great seeing everyone at the track.
P.S. Car was much better after your help Fritz. Thanks a bunch. I can't handle the Tri-point bar. Will the Racing Beat be an approvement, or just wait til I can afford it? The Irish #69...
Peace

I may see you at the trackdaze event. Nice meeting Kathy and from what I can tell she's also hooked on the Irish 69
