VIN Info

So, I've tried searching threads on Japanese VINs to see what kind of decoders are out there. Unfortunately, all of the tools or pages I find are old and outdated, and usually don't work anymore.

I'm trying to figure out as much as I can about my car, primarily production month/year. So if anyone can help me out, please post up.

VIN: FD3S-303066

Thanks,
Ray

Maybe try posting over at FDRX7.com

That's one of the big AUS forums and they deal with MANY more JDM imports than we do and probably have better access to tools/data that can help.

Gomez might actually be a good person to ask - he's on here as well.

I am going to post here against my better judgement not to. I am sorry in advance.

Stay away from FDRX7.com.

I am an Australian, and that site has contributed to more "Show us your FD... Where do you live? Verify you own one......." and then before long, the car goes missing.
And then magically, lots of parts show up for sale. I would not be approaching them if it were in any way possible to avoid doing so.

Having said that, not much of anything can be decoded from your numbers. Numbers beginning in a 3xxxxxx would likely be a later model (I'll guess 1996 onwards) but that is all.
Numbers beginning in 1XXXXXXX are early cars, possibly 1992 onwards.

I would strongly suggest both posters here who have displayed their chassis numbers remove them from being publicly viewable on these or any forums, if possible.

Numbers starting with 4xxx are 96 onwards. Mine is fd3s-401xxx and is a JDM 96.

It's an early Type R Bathurst. Black, made 21-3-1995. Mazda made 500 of them, they were a bit of a stripped out model. No stereo (made the car cheaper), four seats, S6 rear spoiler (which some FD's of the era didn't have).

Hi Mauricio, got your PM.

Don't use a hotmail or live dot com etc address, the servers that host the forum reject them as spam or some such. Use your normal home or work email.

Too many zero's in your VIN, BTW. Assume it's 100929. Your car is one of the first FD's. It's a red five speed manual Type R, the top sports spec FD of the day. Built 6-Jan-1992.

Fog lights, suede seats, rear spoiler, twin oil coolers, stiffer dampers.

Cheers, Steve.

The easiest, way to determine what car you have is contact Mazda Customer Service and give the nice lady on the phone your VIN. She will look it up on Mazda's data base and tell you what you have and when it was built. In the end she is the final authority, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks you have, only Mazda know's what left the building...

For US cars you can call:
(800) 222-5500
or Email at Contact Mazda- USA

For Australian cars call:
1800 034 411
or Email at Contact Mazda-AUS

Oh and
For German cars call:
02173-943121
or Email at Contact Mazda-DE

Hmmmm. Really. This thing definitely has a stereo. Well it's an aftermarket stereo. Looks like I'll be calling/visiting Mazda in the near future to figure this out.

Maybe Germany or USA are different, Mazda Au has a parts policy of not providing bits for imports (at least not without a bit of subterfuge). I see the likelihood of them providing info regarding specs of japanese cars, even if they had it, as around nil.

SA3R - give the puerile dribble a rest mate, eff me, you hang around with the dodgiest clock winding FD person on bookface! If you've got the goss on the fd fraudsters, I'm absolutely sure the cops would welcome your valuable insight.

I actually tried calling Mazda USA
But it told me to call they're facility in Canada,Ontario
Which I did & the # is out of services ??okay....
I then call Mazda Canada..And I couldn't get beyond customer services , they cannot enter RHD Vin in the computer..simply doesn't work
They told me I had to go to a dealership so the dealership can call Mazda Technical Operation

Call the dealership...they said they cannot do nothing with a rhd vin

I then asked them if they are able to contact Mazda Technician and figure this out , same answer

I then tried to call Mazda Japan ...but I didn't stay on the line long as they were speaking Japanese..

It's just shitty that i cannot find/get Official info (legit papers) of my RHD

My next options are :
1-find a Japanese translator to call Mazda Japan
2-Find the company that imported my car

So, while speaking with a customer support person at Mazda USA they directed me to this site.

https://ssl.mazda.co.jp/inquiry/

You can submit a question/email to Mazda Japan asking for info about your car. I already submitted an inquiry, I just have to wait now for a response.

Really? What lesson did you learn?

The lesson that it's good manners to thank someone who took the time to look up the info you couldn't find? Thanking the one guy of the 178,000 here with info on your VIN, who answered all the questions you asked and then some?? You posted the wrong VIN too, remember...

Figure what out? I told you what model the car is. The build date. How many were made. The color. The std equipment...

So someone put an aftermarket stereo in it....so fkn what??

Gomez

I'm sorry if I misbehaved on the matter of being grateful.
Don't get me wrong here , I am truly grateful & honoured about the information you gave me about my car.
Being the only one here being able to give me any information is priceless, thank you .

What I'm looking for is official Mazda Papers
I should of been more clear on the subject.

If you have official papers about my car that you're able to email me,than I would be more than grateful & more than sorry about doubting your words.

What I founded odd is that my car was originally an automatic,It also came with R1 seats (maybe it got changed) Anyways.

I'm not hear to pick a fight ,at all
I truly apologies if I offended you

All I'm trying to do is find a way
To get official papers for RHD people out of Japan.

Again I truly apologies.

Thank you. I don't ask much. Thanks cost nothing to post and good manners will get you a long way.

Post pics of the VIN decal on the door frame (if present), the stamped VIN in the center of the firewall and VIN plate on the firewall RHS. I've seen numerous fakes and pics make positive ID's easier.

The Type R was manual only. If your car was truly an OEM automatic, then the VIN you gave me is wrong or the car has a fake VIN. I don't know what R1 seats look like, Yankee FD's aren't my thing....I'm a JDM guru.

I have manufacturing info, dealer tech data and brochures for every JDM FD model ever released (over 30 different versions). I'm your only hope, you won't get anything out of Japan.
