i rather put a torque brace on than change a mount, if that's the problem...whatever it may be the brace works wonders for me

I didnt' check the mounts. All the rx-7's I have played with have had similar engine movement under "rev-load". I have pretty good throttle reponse with my setup, so there's bound to be some movement in my experience.

I decided to make my own torque brace after seeing how much the engine moves under load on the dyno. I used an old stock toe link and some metal to make brackets from home depot. Besides minmizing engine movement and making it less likely to miss gears, I've noticed that the intercooler couplers don't get pulled apart when the motor moves. The slight increase in interior noise is well worth it.

I wonder with that bracing up top if that will work the stock motor mounts harder. Since they will not be able to give a little bit. Just a thought with no fact behind it.

I would guess the factory would install one because it should transmit vibrations and noise to the cabin. Which is normally not a goal of passenger car design.

FYI, I have brand new (20 miles on them now) polyurethane motor mounts and my motor moves like that, at idle, just bliping the throttle.

I can't see where the brace attaches to on the left side of the engine compartement.

What's the mounting point used?
