Vacuum Check Valve Question

I'm speaking of the round one-way check valves near the top vacuum chamber, but I guess all check valves in general. To check to see if they are working properly you should be able to blow in one end but not the other, but how fast should the air flow out of it? Should the valve make a whistling sound? Thanks in advance.

You should only be able to blow through it "one" direction. However, you should be able to "suck" through it the other direction.

If you can blow through it both directions, replace it.

I'm shooting for the weekend of March 22. I hope by then, to have the 7 back together and running "properly". Right now I'm in the process of doing the vacuum hoses and replacing the downpipe. I plan to send it off this week to have it coated, so I hope to in stall it next weekend. I just hope there's good weather for the next couple of weekends.

as for how fast air traveles through the check valve, I couldn't give you an exact value. BUT what you could do is grab another one like it (there are two kinds: Green/Black & Green/White) and blow through both of them and see if they flow the same...If they do then I believe you are golden.

I would have to say the flow is about : weeeeeeeeiiiishhhhh! NOT Wooooooosh!, Woooooosh is about the sound of a torn/broken y-pipe coupler

I found an aluminum check valve. It flows air both directions. Is this correct? I didn't see a check valve like this on the parts list. Can anyone help me on this?

If you can blow through it in both directions, it's not functioning correctly (hence the name, check valve).

Check this thread and see if it's the same part:

BTW, I believe attactments are disabled currently.

Hiram--I've got both of the stock CRV's, if you need them. $12 each, shipped. I'm leaving for a business trip on thursday, so let me know before then.

Is there a thread that has details and the color of each check valve? There's no detail of this on the vacuum hose diagram.

hey guys...mine does the same. Just curious, can you replace the aluminum check valve with one of the other one's to eliminate that small hose>big hose>small hose. I can explain more if you like. I was down at pettit racing and cameron gave me some off a corvette. they are the same size and work GREAT!!! plus they're like 3 times cheaper
