V mounts and power steering?

Merry Christmas!

I am away from my car with family thinking about the HKS V mount I was installing before I left. The kit is great, but it has you delete the power steering *cooler* entirely. I knew this ordering the kit and bought this generic power steering cooler
Amazon Amazon
Well, I really should have thought it through more before ordering the cooler because I really do not have a great plan for installing it. My first question would be does the power steering rack and pump really need a cooler? My car has 70k miles on it and I rebuild the pump last year and replaced the bearing. Part of me just wants to delete the cooler to simplify one more thing, but then again I do not want to have to rebuild steering components every year.

Next would be if it does, what do yall do for custom coolers? I see the greddy kit comes with its own, which is slick and I could probably make one for cheap. Core components makes a kit, which is nice, but a little pricey IMO for what you get. As of now I am thinking about either mounting the Derale kit on top of the radiator or building a bracket for it like the Core Components kit.

Read the instructions because not only you dont delete the power steering it comes with the parts to retain the power steering.

whether you want to add a power steering cooler is an entirely different matter. Completely useless if you want my opinion. Perhaps its needed if you are doing pro drifting and even then its doubtful

The ps cooler isn't really necessary. We built an FD that hasn't had one since 2017 and have done quite a few custom v mount set ups without a cooler and have had no negative effects. These are all for street cars of course so someone else can speak for an actual track car but for turn signal/stop light conditions, a cooler is not needed.

Whoops! Meant to say you delete the power steering cooler entirely.

Power steering cooler

I did something similar to the previous post and have the same Derale kit you purchased.
I was also missing the cross brace entirely so made something quick with some flat aluminum plate.

I am loving all of these suggestions. I have a friend in the area who had an extra power steering cooler from a Greddy V mount kit. Apparently you can buy the cooler alone from Greddy if you order it from Japan. All the kit is, is some aluminum tubing bent to provide heat exchange. If he did not have this I probably just would have made my own out of aluminum tubing.

Here is a picture of what it should look like.
