Question V-mount IC/Radiators?

Does anyone have a V-mount installed in their 7? I'm looking at the one from rotary extreme and would like to get some input on their fitment, pros/cons, reliablitly.

As I recall there was a whole discussion on V-Mounts and their Pros / Cons... very few cons as I remember... just that installation was somewhat radical as you have to remove the whole cooling system (Rad. AST Etc) and the IC, and Airbox, battery etc... and then start installing things...
I bought mine, and am waiting for some hoses, no biggie... I asked a guy at SevenStock6 about it and said teh fitment was perfect... and that chuck provided all the hoses and parts for a direct bolt on... but that he had no instructions, and it was like a jigsaw puzzle, according to chuck he's put some on CD or paper or something... I'll see if this thread is still alive when I get it all put together.... and post a review, pictures... (might be a while since I'm also doing a rebuild...)

Pros, BTW are neither IC nor Rad suffers from poor ventilation, and both have a great deal of surface area and overheating due to IC covering rad are no longer an issue.. and you have a sleeper look with IC hidden away....

One other con.. you need a vented hood to maximize the effectiveness of the V-Mount...

works great

only disadvantage I have found is that it gets in the way of pulling the motor. So, anytime you want to pull the motor you have to take the IC off. Mine is a modified prototype of the Version I that I have mounted in a sort of PITA way though. I am not sure how he has the system currently mounted.

there are other threads about this. if you search, then you don't have to wait for answers.....don't be afraid to revive an old thread.

I have it and it's a quality kit. There's alot of R&D that went in to it. I have no complaints and it attracts alot of attention when the hood is up. Tom

I see. . . I'll use the search engine next time before I post to see if it's not a old topic.

I think i'm sold on the V-mount as there seems to be no major problems with it. I don't own a seven yet so I'm in no hurry to buy the kit ( Plan to buy one next year, saving up for modifcations/extra money for maintence ). I'll post again if i have anymore questions. Thanks!

Another Question

Does it matter where the vents are on the hood? It seems that it will work better with a Mazdaspeed type hood but I plan on using a feed hood (Vents located near windowshield). Will the V mount setup be as effective as long as there is vents removing pressure in the engine bay?

I've got one.....although its sitting on the table now while my engine is coming out. The kit is really awesome and while taking the IC out to do other work on the engine might be considered a problem, you'll change your mind when you see how easy it is to do. Also note that you'll have a perfect sleeper set up and won't have to go with an aftermarket front end or chop up your stock bumper. There will be lots of comments when you pop your hood.

I'd like to see more pics on the install, and specifically more on the relocation of the A/C, whats involved, and how many gaps you'll need to fill once its in.... there aren't too many good photos of it out there, and i don't live close enough to anyone who has one to take a good look for myself...
