I have a greddy vmount installed with ac. charged the system and works great at idle. getting 42* out the vents. driving it was not as cold. high side pressures were around 220-240 with just the stock fd fans.
when revving it would allow compressor to run for a few seconds then hit the cut off. i put a bench fan on it and it would keep the high side pressures more stable.
long story short I want to add a extra fan to the condensor. my question is do I get a PUSHER or PULLER? I was thinking pusher since the factory fans are pulling already and the pusher would push the air in same direction.
would that cause any turbulence with incoming air from front bumper?
I want to add a question in addition to this thread, if using a PUSHER or PULLER fan, what fan would you recommend?
I recommend a single puller Spal fan, placed on the top right side of the condenser. It will help the condenser keep cooler but at the sacrifice of a few Celsius points increased on the intercooler. The condenser placement is practically horizontal which, by the way, does not cool as efficiently as the radiator and the intercooler.
You could also fabricate a crescent moon shaped duct to direct air to the condenser and mount it to the back of the unit. Ultimately, getting a vented hood that has ducts above the intercooler would relieve every thing.
Hmm. I have greddy vmount kit with stock fans and they do great but I’m also running a RX8 condenser. Based on photos there is quite a bit of gap between condenser and radiator. Mine is very close to touching. I suspect that’s your issue. I live in NC where it’s humid as *****. I don’t get 42 but I’m running r134. Are you on r12?
